Harnessing the Power of Channel Incentives: Strategies for Success

0

In the realm of modern commerce, channel incentives play a pivotal role in driving partner engagement, boosting sales performance, and fostering mutually beneficial relationships between manufacturers and their channel partners. Channel incentives encompass a wide range of rewards, incentives, and recognition programs designed to motivate and incentivize channel partners to achieve specific business objectives, such as sales targets, market expansion, and product adoption. One of the primary aims of these incentives is to encourage partners to effectively sell through channel partners, leveraging their networks and expertise to reach end customers. In this article, we’ll explore the significance of channel incentives and share strategies for designing and implementing effective incentive programs that drive partner success and revenue growth.

Understanding Channel Incentives Dynamics

Channel incentives serve as a strategic tool for manufacturers to align the interests of their channel partners with their own business objectives. These incentives can take various forms, including financial rewards, rebates, discounts, SPIFFs (Sales Performance Incentive Funds), co-op marketing funds, and non-monetary incentives such as recognition, awards, and exclusive privileges. Key elements of channel incentives dynamics include:

Alignment with Business Objectives: Effective channel incentives programs are closely aligned with manufacturers’ strategic goals and objectives. Whether the aim is to drive sales growth, increase market share, promote new product launches, or enhance partner loyalty, channel incentives should be designed to incentivize behaviors that contribute to these overarching business objectives.

Motivation and Engagement: Channel incentives serve as powerful motivators for channel partners, encouraging them to prioritize and promote manufacturers’ products or services over competitors’. By offering attractive rewards and recognition for achieving specific performance targets, manufacturers can inspire greater engagement, effort, and commitment from their channel partners.

Performance Measurement and Tracking: Successful channel incentives programs rely on robust performance measurement and tracking mechanisms to monitor partner performance, track progress towards goals, and determine eligibility for rewards. Manufacturers should establish clear performance metrics, such as sales revenue, units sold, market share, or customer acquisition, and provide partners with visibility into their performance data to foster transparency and accountability.

Program Flexibility and Customization: Channel incentives programs should be flexible and adaptable to accommodate the diverse needs, preferences, and capabilities of channel partners. Manufacturers should offer a variety of incentive options, allowing partners to choose rewards that resonate with their interests and motivations. Additionally, incentives programs should be customizable to reflect partners’ unique business models, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes.

Strategies for Success in Channel Incentives

To maximize the effectiveness of channel incentives programs, manufacturers can implement several strategies tailored to their specific business objectives and partner dynamics:

Clear Goal Setting and Communication: Setting clear, achievable goals is the foundation of any successful channel incentives program. Manufacturers should clearly define performance targets, eligibility criteria, and reward structures to align partner expectations and motivate desired behaviors. Transparent communication is essential for ensuring that partners understand the program objectives, rules, and incentives available to them.

Tiered Incentive Structures: Tiered incentive structures allow manufacturers to reward partners based on their level of performance, offering escalating rewards for higher levels of achievement. By providing tiered incentives, manufacturers can incentivize partners to strive for continuous improvement and unlock greater rewards as they achieve higher levels of success.

Performance-Based Rewards: Performance-based rewards tie incentives directly to measurable outcomes, such as sales revenue, units sold, or market share. By aligning incentives with specific performance metrics, manufacturers can encourage partners to focus on activities that drive tangible business results and deliver value to the organization.

Timely Rewards and Recognition: Timely reward fulfillment is crucial for maintaining partner motivation and momentum. Manufacturers should strive to deliver rewards promptly upon achievement of performance targets, ensuring that partners feel valued and appreciated for their efforts. Additionally, public recognition and appreciation can enhance partner morale and loyalty, fostering a positive partnership culture.

Data Analytics and Insights: Leveraging data analytics and insights can provide manufacturers with valuable intelligence into partner performance, program effectiveness, and market trends. By analyzing performance data, manufacturers can identify top-performing partners, pinpoint areas for improvement, and refine incentive strategies to optimize program ROI.

Channel incentives programs play a critical role in driving partner engagement, incentivizing desired behaviors, and achieving business objectives in the channel sales ecosystem. By designing and implementing effective incentive programs that align with strategic goals, motivate partner performance, and foster collaboration, manufacturers can drive revenue growth, enhance partner loyalty, and gain a competitive edge in today’s dynamic marketplace.

Man warns over online romance after 83-year-old sister scammed out of £20,000

0

An Oldham man has warned those looking for love online not to fall foul of scammers, like his 83-year-old sister.

Over 18 months, *Alice* sent more than £20,000 to romance fraudsters.

She thought she had fallen in love with a man she met via an online scrabble game. The pair initially got on well and he soon asked her to change chat platform, where the relationship got more intense and he began to request cash.

Alice’s brother, *David*, said Alice had lost her husband a few years earlier and while she had family, often felt lonely.

David said: “My sister sent over £20,000 to scammers over 18 months, and I think if my wife and I hadn’t been there to help her, eventually they would have cleaned her out.

“Scammers are very clever; they target things like online scrabble because they know this is a place where they’ll find older women with a bit of money.

“And it always goes the same way – the scammer starts off by building a relationship and then claims they haven’t got access to their bank card and need a bit of money and will pay you back.

“My sister believed she was dating a 60-year-old millionaire in the United States who was promising to come over and look after her and give her a second chance at love. It was all a lie.”

A shared connection

Alice felt like she shared a connection with the fraudster – who described himself as a Christian, a widow like herself and a father. He seemed to understand her and was interested in her life and Alice thought she was in love.

David said: “We knew Alice’s behaviour had changed but we found out something was seriously wrong when she came to my wife and I for help. She said I’ve been a fool; I’ve just been to the bank and I’ve been sending money to someone abroad.

“The first scam we became aware of was a man claiming to be an American millionaire who was working on an oil rig. There came a day when he supposedly didn’t have access to his card and he told Alice that his daughter needed an operation that afternoon. He put pressure on her, saying the surgeon needed payment then and there or his daughter was going to lose her leg. And Alice just sent the money to him because they’d been talking that long, and she believed he was who he said he was.

“It’s all a bit ludicrous but next time he was going on a business trip to Russia and claimed he’d been arrested coming back through Istanbul and needed money to pay his bail. Again, Alice just sent him the money. She even got a fake letter addressed from the United Nations saying he was a prisoner and needed this money to be set free.”

“The stories are all the same: the scammers get themselves in a position where they supposedly can’t access their own money, because their account has been frozen, they’ve been in hospital, they’ve been in an accident or wrongfully arrested.”

Alice was asked by the scammer, to buy Google Play cards or Amazon cards – a common scam where the victim scratches the card to reveal the number and sends a photo of this to the scammers. Once in possession of this, the scammer can sell it on and take an 80% cut.

David now has Power of Attorney and supports the bank in investigating suspicious transactions on Alice’s accounts. They still don’t know the identity of the scammer.

Action Fraud

David hopes other victims will learn from his sister’s story, realise they are being scammed and will report to Action Fraud.

He said: “Everyone should be suspicious if someone they don’t know contacts them online. I dread to think what could have happened if my wife and I weren’t there for Alice – the scammers could have drained her account and left her with nothing.

“The photos and videos that my sister received seemed genuine, but I found out how to do a reverse image search and was able to show her they were all fake. It makes me really angry because they’ve deliberately targeted someone who is elderly and vulnerable, but I hope that by speaking out this will help protect other victims.”

Detective sergeant Stacey Shannon said: “Unfortunately, his story is far from unique and there are many people who fall victim to such scams. I hope his experience will help other victims realise what is happening to them and encourage them to make a report. Everyone should be vigilant online, and I want to emphasise that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

“Stop and think before responding to strangers you’ve met online, especially if they start asking for money. Criminals are experts at impersonating other people, and they spend days, weeks, months and even years cultivating a relationship with you all to execute a scam and take your money. If you suspect you or someone you know is a victim of romance fraud, please seek help sooner rather than later and report it.”

Paul Hampson, from CEL Solicitors, said: “It’s not just the money that makes romance fraud so distressing, it’s the feeling of betrayal and the emotional cost, too.

“Criminals target victims who are vulnerable, gain their trust and exploit them. We’d advise anyone to stop and think before they send money to someone they haven’t met.

“Social media and other online platforms should be doing more to protect victims from fake accounts, but for now people need to be vigilant.”

India v England: Sharma and Jadeja overcome early wobbles to put hosts on top

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja hit centuries to dig India out of an early hole and into a strong position in the third Test against England in Rajkot.

The pair came together with the hosts wobbling at 33 for three – and with Mark Wood charging in – but batted beautifully in a fourth-wicket stand of 204 that changed the complexion of the opening day.

India closed on 326 for five with Jadeja still at the crease but no doubt ruing the late mix-up that saw his desperation to get to three figures result in the run-out of impressive debutant Sarfaraz Khan (62).

England’s decision to sacrifice a spinner and recall Wood alongside fellow seamer James Anderson looked a masterstroke early on as the Durham man made early gains.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit a brilliant 209 in the last Test in Visakhapatnam, failed to cope with Wood’s extra pace and bounce, nicking off to Joe Root at slip for 10.

Wood then snared Shubman Gill for a nine-ball duck before spinner Tom Hartley got one to jump off a length to dismiss Rajat Patidar (five).

India needed a rebuild and it came in the form of captain Sharma and hometown hero Jadeja, back in the side following a hamstring injury.

The former had moments of fortune though, surviving a close lbw shout to Anderson before Root spilled a difficult chance in the slips after the batter had attempted to slog Hartley.

If the morning session was England’s, the afternoon was all about India. The pitch had dried under the midday sun and Sharma and Jadeja made hay, playing with an element of caution but also willing to put away the bad balls as they put on 92 without further loss.

Sharma completed his 11th Test ton in the first over after tea – bringing an end to a barren run.

England captain Ben Stokes, making his 100th Test match appearance, turned back to Wood and his short-ball barrage finally worked when Sharma, on 131, miscued to mid-wicket where Stokes himself gleefully snapped up a simple opportunity.

The tourists would have been eyeing further inroads with Sarfaraz and Dhruv Jurel the next two expected batters and both making their Test bows.

Sarfaraz had different ideas, producing a brilliant innings full of attacking intent to swing the momentum back India’s way. While he went on the front foot, Jadeja retreated into his shell in a bid to nudge his way to a century.

Jadeja also survived a let-off as England’s miserable run of DRS decisions continued, Stokes not opting to review a not-out call that would have seen Hartley claim his wicket leg before.

Sarfaraz cruised to his 50 off 48 balls – the second-quickest on debut for India – and seemed destined for more, only to be undone by a moment of madness from his partner.

The pair had already avoided one run out scare but there was to be no reprieve second time round when Jadeja called his young partner through for a quick single only to change his mind and Wood did the rest with a brilliant run out.

Sharma looked on unimpressed, throwing his cap to the ground, while he wasn’t seen to applaud when Jadeja did bring up three figures shortly afterwards.

Late mis-judgement aside, it was a day of triumph for Jadeja

Sutcliffe to work on redevelopment of two public buildings in Rochdale

Manchester-based civil and structural engineering firm, Sutcliffe, has been appointed on the redevelopment of two multi-million-pound historic buildings in Rochdale; Touchstones and Heywood Civic Centre.

Touchstones Rochdale, which is currently the borough’s main arts and heritage venue, has appointed Sutcliffe through the Constellia framework to undertake civil and structural designs, with a full site investigation, to create internal alterations and to ensure that the building meets current fire safety standards.

The 120-year-old Grade II-listed building owned by Rochdale Borough Council, is located within the Rochdale Town Centre Conservation Area and is on the edge of the Heritage Action Zone. The total cost of the redevelopment will reach around £5 million.

Heywood Civic Centre will benefit from a multi-million-pound transformation into a first-class arts and performance venue, designed by architects, K2.

Sutcliffe’s remit on the Heywood refurbishment project incorporates structural designs for internal alterations and site investigations, foundation and steel design for the new entrance extension.

Sutcliffe has extensive town-centre heritage venue experience, including Bolton Library and Crew Market Hall.

Sean Keyes, CEO at Sutcliffe (pictured right with director, William Baldwin) said: “Our Manchester activity has increased extensively over recent months and these latest contract awards are no exception.

“Given our experience in heritage projects, we feel more than ready to get started and breathe some life back into these buildings so they can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

“We’re eager to continue this period of framework wins as we head into Q2, further affirming our place as one of the region’s leading civil and structural engineers.”

Established in 1985 and headquartered in Liverpool, Sutcliffe is a multi-disciplinary chartered engineering, surveying and geo-environmentalist firm which delivers from concept to completion and is a trusted name in the world of civil and structural engineering.

Dan Ashworth: Manchester United ‘approach’ Newcastle for sporting director after Sir Jim Ratcliffe investment

Manchester United have approached Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth about joining their new-look football operations set-up under investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe, according to a report.

Former Brighton and West Bromwich Albion technical director Ashworth is “keen” on the move and has a long-standing relationship with Ratcliffe’s performance guru, Sir David Brailsford, from his time as director of elite development at the FA, BBC Sport has said.

Ashworth could observe a period of gardening leave – as the 52-year-old did when he left Brighton for Newcastle in 2022 – should he take up what is likely to be a powerful position as part of an expected overhaul at United led by Brailsford, the man best known for helping to revive British cycling.

While Brighton and Newcastle’s resourcefulness in the transfer market has been partly credited to Ashworth, United have tended to act with contrasting wastefulness in recent years.

In a meeting with supporters in 2022, former Red Devils chief executive Richard Arnold said the club with the highest spending power in England had “burned through” £1 billion with little tangible effect on the quality of their squad.

Winger Antony has since become the second-most expensive signing in United’s history but is yet to score or assist in 23 matches across the Premier League and Uefa Champions League this season.

The Brazil international cost more than £80 million, while Jadon Sancho, whose price tag was £73m in July 2021, returned to former club Borussia Dortmund on loan in January after making little impact at Old Trafford.

Dan Ashworth signings: Transfer expert ‘could cost £10m’

Brighton’s signings during Ashworth’s time at the club included midfielder Moises Caicedo, who arrived for £4.5m in June 2021 and joined Chelsea for a British-record £115m little more than two years later.

Nick Pope has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining the Magpies from Burnley for £10m under Ashworth’s watch, and striker Alexander Isak has justified his position as their record £60m signing, scoring 14 times in 25 appearances this season.

United’s reported move for Ashworth comes a day after Ratcliffe’s purchase of 25% of the club for more than £1bn was ratified by the FA and Premier League.

The Red Devils will have to spend around £10m to Newcastle to complete the deal for Ashworth, according to the Chronicle.

The outlet says United could pay more to reduce the length of time Ashworth spends on gardening leave, emulating the agreement eventually reached between Newcastle and Brighton.

Rafael Nadal: Tennis great withdraws from tournament through injury but says he is ‘focused’ on US return

Former world number one Rafael Nadal has pulled out of his scheduled comeback after more than a month out with an injury he sustained on his comeback at the Brisbane International.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion will not appear at the Qatar Open, although he said he hopes to play an exhibition match against fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in Las Vegas on March 3.

“I would have loved to play in Doha,” the 37-year-old said on social media. “The tournament team, as well as the amazing Qatar fans, have always supported me greatly.

“I will focus on keeping working to be ready for the exhibition in Las Vegas and the amazing Indian Wells tournament.”

The Qatar Open starts on February 19, with Indian Wells taking place in California between March 4 and 17.

Nadal’s return in Brisbane was in preparation for the Australian Open, which he has won twice, later that month.

That was his first competitive tennis for more than a year, but it was curtailed by a hip injury which ruled him out of the Melbourne major.

Current world number two Alcaraz, who has been inspired by Nadal, added a supportive reply to the tennis icon’s announcement.

“Cheer up, Rafa,” said the 2023 Wimbledon champion, via translation. “You’re on top right away. See you in Vegas.”

Nadal return: ‘High’ chance of retirement after 2024

When he was appointed as an ambassador for the Saudi Tennis Federation in January, Nadal said there was a “high percentage” chance 2024 would be his final year as a player.

The 14-time French Open champion has missed the last four Grand Slam tournaments and pulled out of Wimbledon 2022 before his semi-final because of injury.

“I will continue to play tennis because I love it,” the man who spent 209 weeks at the top of the rankings said at the time.

Greater Manchester devolution deal – how will it affect public sector tendering opportunities?

Last year, Levelling Up secretary Dehenna Davison, Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and ten local council leaders signed a landmark devolution deal for funding of the Greater Manchester Area as part of Levelling Up efforts.

The deal follows other, similar regional devolution deals – an agreement for the four councils of the North East Mayoral Combined Authority, with a total value of £1.4 billion, and a £160 million deal for West Midlands Combined Authority to address transport, housing and skills development.

Greater Manchester procurement practices

The combined authority of Greater Manchester has procurement information listed on a webpage. As with most central and sub-central authorities, they have implemented a target for 33% of spend to be awarded to small and medium-sized businesses, with a particular emphasis on ensuring spend is circulated within the local economy.

According to Tussell, a total of 52 contract notices with a combined value of £92.3 million were issued by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority during 2022.

This included contracts for health and social care, maintenance and repair of fire service PPE, servicing and installation of energy-efficient heating systems and provision of skills training for disadvantaged local residents.

With an additional £640 million as a result of the devolution deal, these numbers are expected to increase substantially across several industries and sectors.

Relevant industries and opportunities

Details of funding earmarked for certain initiatives were also listed, and include:

  • £400 million for investment in affordable housing, in conjunction with Homes England
  • £150 million for development of properties on brownfield sites
  • £80 million to support ‘investment zones’ within the local authority
  • £10 million to support levelling up and growth in Greater Manchester
  • A scheme targeting the reduction of residential and commercial energy bills through funding for retrofit buildings and decarbonisation works.

Based on the funding stream, major works and planning will be organised around construction projects, plumbing and heating, and the provision of skills/training, among others.

Before the funding is formally allocated into official framework agreements and contracts, businesses should make suitable and sufficient preparations for incoming opportunities.

This includes ensuring sufficient resourcing, strengthening upstream and downstream supply chain agreements and identifying potential social value commitments.

Since its inception in 2009, Executive Compass has supported over 7,000 bespoke, high-quality SQ and ITT submissions, including those in the North West and Greater Manchester area, with a fully auditable 85% success rate.

Cinquecento Comeback: The Revival of the Fiat 500

0

In 2007, Fiat decided to revive one of its most iconic models, the Fiat 500, known as the Cinquecento by the Italians. The Cinquecento was launched to maintain Fait 500’s native design, but implants modern techs and features that were absent in older models – to attract modern drivers and re-enter the market as before.

The 2007 Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) inarguably revived the series, modern drivers started reconsidering the iconic Fiat 500 once again. But did the impact last for a long time? Are Fait 500s still invoke as they used to? Let’s look at the impact of the 2007 Cinquecento in reviving the Fiat 500 small car from the 90s.

Fiat 500 Overview

First introduced in 1957, the Fiat 500 quickly became a symbol of Italian automotive ingenuity and style. Its compact size, distinctive design, and affordability made it instantly popular in the market, especially in urban environments where maneuverability and efficiency were much needed by drivers.

Over the years, technologies used in manufacturing the Fiat 500 evolved, but the design remained unchanged, just like Toyota’s FJ Cruiser. However, production for the Fiat 500 stopped in 1975 and the model was replaced with the Fait 126. Fast forward to 2007, when the company celebrated its 50th anniversary – a new Fait 500 was launched.

The 2007 Fait 500 was aimed to maintain the physical attributes of the original 500 while meeting the demands of modern drivers. The design retained the essence of the classic Cinquecento, with its rounded shape, cheerful demeanor, and compact size. However, under the hood and within the cabin, the Fiat 500 boasted modern engineering and technological changes.

2007 Fiat 500 Features

This model maintained rounded headlights, circular aesthetics, and a sleek front grille; yeah, it looked like the old 500 we all knew. But, this new model came with customization options for its buyers to compare and personalize their Fiat 500 with unique colors, decals, and accessories.

To prove it was made for modern drivers, this model was built with contemporary features at that moment to improve driver and passenger comfort, convenience, and safety. The interior has a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth wireless connectivity support.

Also, there are advanced safety features like electronic stability control and multiple airbags – despite its compact size. Under the hood, this compact roadster offered a range of engine options, including diesel and electric powertrains. The Fiat 500’s nimble handling, tight turning radius, and responsive steering made it ideal for navigating crowded city streets and tight parking spaces.

Including these modern features and variable options for modern shoppers to choose from made the 2007 Fait 500 go a bit viral when it launched. Both loyalists of the Fiat 500 and new drivers who wanted to have a feel got one for themselves. Also, this newer version made the company’s reach extend further into different global markets.

From North America to Asia, the 2007 Cinquecento penetrated the heart of drivers worldwide, and there was a massive request for the model. Of course, the popular and wide acceptance is not unconnected to 500’s unique blend of Italian flair and practicality – along with the compact size that made it well-suited for navigating congested cityscapes.

Fiat 500 Oil

fiat oil

There are different recommendable oils to use on the new Fiat 500, but the most suitable is the 5W30 full synthetic. This synthetic oil offers better lubrication in hot and cold temperatures, which also provides the engine with premium additives to keep the components working perfectly.

Challenges and Competition

Despite its initial success, the Fiat 500 faced challenges in the competitive automotive market. Rivals in the compact car segment offered their own interpretations of urban mobility, presenting consumers with a plethora of choices.

Conclusion

The revival of the Fiat 500 in 2007 really did good to the icon small car; it did capture the interest of many modern drivers, thanks to the modern features added. Performance-wise, the 2007 Fait 500 wasn’t the best in its class, but it does produce enough power and fine handling for city driving. More so, while there are many oils you could use for the engine, 5W30 full synthetic oils are the best to use.

Manchester United: Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ‘vision’ for Premier League giants, says Harry Maguire

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a “vision” which will take the club “back in the right direction”, adding that his team-mates wanted to “fight for the badge” after a meeting with the billionaire’s performance guru, Sir David Brailsford.

Speaking on the day when the Football Association and Premier League ratified the deal for Ratcliffe’s Ineos group to buy a 25% stake in United and take over football operations, Maguire predicted the businessman would help the club to challenge for the Premier League title again and said the agreement has led to an improvement in the atmosphere at training.

“There’s a positive energy around the place, a good intensity,” Maguire told Sky Sports News, describing the understanding the players had been given by Ratcliffe and Brailsford of “the way they want to work, the way they see the club and where they want to take us.”

“Ineos have come in, Sir Jim, and I’m sure he’s going to have a big positive effect on this club.

“As a player, I want this club to be successful and I’m sure he’s going to play a big part in getting this club back to where it should be.

“It’s been a tough few years because the expectation is to challenge for the biggest trophies and at the top of the Premier League.

“We haven’t done that enough during the last 10 years and I’m sure he’s got a vision in what he sees and wants from this club. I’m sure he’ll move it in the right direction.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe Manchester United takeover: Players ‘really impressed’

United have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge in 2012/13, finishing outside of the top four in five of their 10 campaigns since the departure of the most successful manager in their history and rarely resembling credible challengers.

An Fa Cup win, two Carabao Cup trophies and Uefa Europa League glory in 2017 have represented a relatively sparse haul of honours over the past 11 years.

Erik ten Hag’s second season in charge began in dismal fashion, losing nine of their 20 Premier League matches and crashing out of Europe by finishing bottom of their Champions League group.

Ten Hag has overseen an unbeaten start to the calendar year but United remain sixth, five points shy of the fifth spot which is likely to ensure qualification for the Champions League next season.

Current league leaders Liverpool will match their record of 20 top-flight titles if they triumph in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, and Maguire, who was out of favour with Ten Hag at the start of 2023/24, has been among the players to face scrutiny, having turned down a move to West Ham in August.

Credited with transforming British cycling, Ineos director of sport Brailsford is taking a key role in reviving United’s fortunes as part of a three-person football committee and has held discussions with Ten Hag and his players.

“The lads came out of the meeting really impressed by how he spoke,” said Maguire. “It gave us great motivation for everyone in the room to want to fight for the badge and for this club, and to stay on this journey with everybody involved.

“It’s exciting times for that club because he’s brought that fresh energy. He’ll move the club in the right direction.”

Ratcliffe has paid more than £1 billion for his stake.
