0

A woman from Manchester has won a nationwide lastminute.com photography competition, looking for the UK’s best travel shots.

The travel tech leader launched the search for the best photos from around the world as part of the brand’s 25th anniversary celebrations. 25 winners, including Leesa Beckwith were selected for the display.

She will receive a £250 voucher from the company to fund future travels, as well as a ticket to the London Eye to see her image on display.

Leesa, whose photo was taken in Nabq in Egypt on her first go at scuba diving, said:

“I am still in shock over being picked as a prize winner – it was a wonderful surprise. I am delighted to be able to share such a wonderful moment and personal achievement with others.  I was 50 years old when I took this scuba diving trip and it took me all my courage to do it and I was so glad I did.  It was like another world, the coral reef and the beauty of the fish was breath-taking.”

With more than 1000 entries from across the UK, the most popular theme for images was time spent with family and friends, with the second theme being special occasions and romantic moments, such as proposals (40%). Nearly 4 in 10 images were of beautiful natural wonders, such as beaches and sunsets. Paris was the most photographed location within the entries outside of London.

Outsourcing the debt collection process helps business grow across the UK

0

The debt collection industry in the United Kingdom plays an often underrecognized role in the smooth functioning of the country’s economic machinery. As businesses evolve, so do the complexities related to finance, leading to a surge in the need for professional debt recovery services. That’s why more and more business seeking to expand their operations turn to services like Intrum to help pull in outstanding debt.

In an economy driven by credit, managing outstanding payments is crucial. UK businesses are often confronted with late or non-payment issues that can cripple the cash flow of their operations, and therefore put a stopper in business growth. Debt collection process agencies act as a lifeline by recovering funds, thereby ensuring that businesses have the necessary liquidity to grow.

Preserving business relationships through professional debt collection

Third party debt collectors ensure that the business finance remains stable and secure, and they process can also be a key in protecting business relationships. Transparent communication and tailored approaches are at the core of this evolution, with agencies recognizing that every business relationship is unique.

Experienced agencies leverage trained negotiators who facilitate amicable resolutions, focusing on long-term relationships rather than one-time transactions. By handling the collection process with empathy, respect, and professionalism, these agencies foster an environment where future business can continue unhampered. The alignment of debt collection with broader business values is now seen as a hallmark of success and contributes to sustainable growth by preserving partnerships and opening doors for future collaboration.

Ensuring a positive brand recognition

A common fear among local businesses is that hiring a third-party debt collector will lead to an unethical and sometimes unlawful handling of customer debt, leading to a negative brand recognition. However, the truth is that many of these agencies can, in fact, make sure that businesses follow financial regulations more precisely by making expert time-efficient solutions.

In the UK, it is the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) which is responsible for governing debt collection practices. Ensuring compliance with the Consumer Credit Act, these regulations protect the rights of the debtor while providing a framework for fair collection. Third parties can provide expert advice and handling of financial matters, as well as keep up with all new legislation, thereby saving time and energy for businesses to focus on their growth and development.

What’s at the forefront of debt collection

It is not only new regulations that need to be kept up with, but also revolutionary debt collection practices. For example, debt collection in the UK is not immune to the technological revolution. The integration of Artificial Intelligence and data analytics is shaping a more efficient and personalised approach to debt recovery.

AI algorithms can analyse vast amounts of data to predict which accounts are most likely to be recoverable, while analytics can provide insights into debtor behaviour, allowing for more tailored communication and negotiation strategies. The use of digital communication channels such as email, text messages, and even chatbots provides more convenient and less intrusive ways for agencies to connect with debtors. This approach aligns with modern communication preferences and can significantly improve engagement and response rates.

Debt collection in the UK is a multifaceted industry integral to business growth and economic stability. Striking the balance between financial recovery and ethical practice, it supports businesses in maintaining healthy cash flows. For UK businesses to thrive in a competitive global market, embracing these trends and understanding the critical role of debt collection will be paramount

Specialist Advisors Ltd, the City-based venture capitalist and management consultancy, has announced an astounding 3,000% increase in profits, reaching £754,470 for the financial year ending on March 31, 2023.

The corresponding net assets have also surged from £764,405 to £2,308,874, driven by long-term investments made by the company in UK SMEs (small to medium enterprises) back in 2020, which are now yielding impressive results.

This exponential growth further solidifies the company’s belief in the SME sector as a vital driver of the UK economy, a concept Specialist Advisors (SA) has coined as ‘The Engine of GrowthTM.’

During the trading year ending March 31, 2023, Specialist Advisors Ltd issued over 46,250,000 new ‘B’ shares, valued at £0.04 per share in private transactions, leading to a total valuation of the company at £12,160,000.

Continuing to raise capital through additional funding rounds, Specialist Advisors aims to expand its portfolio of aligned investments in the SME sector with the ultimate goal of achieving a stock market listing within the next five years.

The Directors have outlined three key developments for the upcoming 2023/24 trading year:

The strategy has undergone back-testing from 2021, and the results are currently being independently audited. It will be accessible through Chronos Trading Ltd, with the objective of managing £100m of institutional funds by December 2024, producing £20m in annual revenues and attaining a market cap of £100m based on a typical PE multiple of 5x for this business sector.
  2. An investment in Meat and Co Ventures following Specialist Advisors’ engagement as a management consultant and Corporate Advisor. SA successfully facilitated a partnership between the management of Meat and Co and a British-based meat wholesaler, creating a value chain from sourcing quality meat produce to delivering a seamless customer experience at the point of sale. The anticipated turnover for the first year of trading is expected to be £2m, with exponential growth projected for subsequent years.
  3. A stakeholding in a global property developer with an existing land bank of £200m GDV (gross development value) through an SPV, Sovereign Developments and Holdings Ltd. SA has secured the first development on the Cap Spartel, near the King’s Palace in Tangiers, valued at £3m with an expected GDV of £7m, offering over 100% ROI.

Stuart Anderson, CEO of Specialist Advisors, expressed the company’s strategy, stating, “Our goal is to identify opportunities in the SME sector that hold the greatest growth potential. By building long-term value through a combination of equity interest and providing comprehensive management consultancy, we aim to support even more SMEs in transforming their ideas into commercial reality.”

Budget-Friendly Tips: How to Save Money on School Uniforms

0

As the new school year approaches, parents are gearing up for the back-to-school shopping frenzy. In today’s challenging economic climate, many are seeking ways to trim costs and reduce expenses.

NetVoucherCodes.co.uk, the go-to destination for money-saving tips, has compiled a comprehensive back-to-school guide with top tips to help parents prepare their kids for the upcoming academic year without breaking the bank.

  1. Shop at Supermarkets for Great Savings

Supermarket giants like Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, and Sainsbury’s have been a saviour for parents seeking affordable school uniforms and essentials. With Aldi and Lidl also stocking blouses, trousers, and school shoes, supermarkets make it easier than ever to shop back-to-school on a budget.

  1. Shop Around and Compare Prices

Before embarking on the back-to-school shopping, parents are advised to shop around and compare prices. Thorough research can lead to significant savings, as prices may vary from store to store. Quality is also essential, as children can be tough on their uniforms. Sometimes investing a little extra in durability and better quality can be a wise choice.

  1. Buy Bigger to Make Uniforms Last Longer

Considering how fast children grow, it’s worthwhile to opt for slightly bigger sizes. Oversized shirts, tops, polo shirts, or jumpers can still be worn comfortably, leaving room for growth. This means your child will get much more wear out of their uniform.

  1. Spread Out Purchases to Reduce Upfront Costs

Back to school doesn’t only require uniforms, but also school shoes, bags, PE kits, school supplies, and more. To ease the financial pressure, parents are encouraged to spread out their purchases over the summer. Buying a few items each week or every two weeks leading up to the new term can make the expenses more manageable.

  1. Use What You Have – Dry-Clean and Reuse

Before rushing to buy an all-new uniform, parents should assess the condition of last year’s items. Jumpers, skirts, trousers, or blazers that are still in good condition can be dry-cleaned and reused, saving money on unnecessary replacements.

  1. Utilise School Uniform Grants

Families facing financial challenges can check if they are eligible for the 2023 school uniform grant. Many local councils across the UK offer clothing grants of up to £200 to assist households in purchasing new uniforms. Eligibility and application processes vary, so parents are encouraged to visit the Government website for more information.

  1. Hand-Me-Downs and Uniform Swaps

Parents with multiple children can take advantage of hand-me-downs. When older siblings outgrow their uniforms, they can be saved for younger ones, reducing the need for additional purchases. Additionally, parents can organise uniform swaps with other families at school or join online groups dedicated to exchanging uniforms between year groups.

By implementing these money-saving strategies, parents can better navigate the back-to-school season with financial ease and prepare their children for the academic year ahead.
