Redcar’s New Luxury Hotel Reveals Historical Gems From the 1700s

Bowles Hotels – 16 West Terrace, Redcar’s upcoming luxurious accommodation, has stumbled upon hidden treasures dating back to the 1700s during its recent construction phase. These intriguing finds will soon be showcased in an in-house museum at the hotel’s basement, giving guests an immersive experience of Middlesbrough’s rich past.

During the renovations, Jamey Bowles, the CEO and Founder of Your Home Group, made the remarkable discovery of gold, historical papers from the 16th century, and other invaluable artifacts within the former Business Centre.

The treasure trove includes mortgage deeds from 1711, golden rings, WWI letters, photographs from 1875, diamond-studded pendants, an exquisite 18k gold pocket watch, and invitations from a local ball in the early 1900s. Experts are currently examining several other historical pieces that were discovered.

Set to open its doors next month, the new aparthotel complex will feature ten state-of-the-art, AI-automated apartments catering primarily to corporate clientele. The accommodation levels range from two grand penthouses to apartments with breathtaking ocean views. Each unit is equipped with modern luxuries such as 60-inch smart TVs, fully equipped kitchens, rainfall showers, wireless charging, co-working spaces, and even an electric car charging facility.

A significant investment of £700,000 has been poured into the development of Bowles Hotel Redcar, marking the inaugural hotel venture for local entrepreneur Jamey Bowles.

Speaking about the venture, Jamey Bowles expressed, “Redcar is a vastly expanding seaside town with much ongoing redevelopment-wise bringing new people to the area to both live, work and for holidays. I feel Redcar has had a lot of investment – there are a lot of local projects that have already been built and are planned over the next few years. There’s a market appetite for high end, secure luxury short term accommodation and Bowles Hotels aims to fill that market gap with its very first seafront hotel. We believe we can offer convenience, security, and luxury all at competitive pricing. We very much look forward to opening in late October.”
