4 Signs that You Should Change Business Water Supplier

0

Since April 2017, business owners can freely switch business water suppliers if they spot a better deal. The process is simple, too and can often be done in a few simple steps in a matter of minutes.

This has resulted in more business owners keeping a fine eye out for any mistreatment or poor service, and rightly so.

This guide will highlight four signs of changing your business water supplier. Read on to determine if your business could benefit from a new supplier.

  • Insufficient Water Treatment Service

As part of having a business water supplier, you should have access to a prompt and sufficient chemical water treatment service. This means they are responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and purifying all your water for various purposes.

Many suppliers waste companies’ time and money by not providing a good enough service, which can badly affect the safe disposal of water and district machinery.

Whether water is used in boilers, cooling towers or other machinery, the wastewater must be efficiently managed and monitored to be safely disposed of.

Some warning signs to look out for that your service may not be adequate are:

  • Discoloured or cloudy water: If the water appears cloudy or discoloured, it may indicate that the impurities are not being removed properly.
  • Bad smell: If you notice the water being used smells off, it could indicate the presence of bacteria.
  • Frequent machine failure: For machines that rely on water, if you notice them breaking down or not functioning properly, it could indicate that the water is not being treated properly.
  • Scale buildup and corrosion: If you notice any pipework or machinery with a lot of corrosion, it could be that the water is not treated properly and is eroding the metalwork.

If you notice any of these signs in your business premises, it may be time to switch business water suppliers.

  • Poor Customer Service

It goes for any service you might buy; if the customer service experience isn’t good, it reflects on the company. A few signs that you may be getting a poor customer service experience might include the following:

  • Long wait times or constantly on hold for inquiries
  • Rudeness or a lack of care towards your needs
  • A lack of follow-ups or follow-through
  • A lack of willingness to go above and beyond to help you
  • Poor accessibility

This only scratches the surface of what poor customer service might look like. In general, you will have a strong natural inclination if you are being poorly treated, and if so, it may be time to switch.

It would help if you always looked to websites like Trustpilot to see how other customers are treated and whether it is best to avoid a specific business water provider.

  • Inconsistent and Expensive Billing

If you notice inconsistencies in your monthly water bill or spot any sharp spikes in costs, you may receive poor bills from your provider.

Your monthly bill should be clear and easy to understand where your money is going, and it should clearly state the cost of the water usage as well as any other additional charges, such as wastewater or stormwater fees.

A clear bill will help you, as the customer, to identify any errors, usage patterns, and conservation opportunities. You need to reconsider your options if you aren’t getting this information.

If you notice any sharp spikes that aren’t being brought to your attention, this is a clear red flag that you are not being provided with the service you deserve.

  • Lack of Additional Services

Your business water provider should always look for new ways to help your business drive down costs. To help with this, many suppliers offer additional services like:

  • Leak detection: Regular repair checkups to ensure no leaks on the premises or anything that could drain excess water.
  • Emergency response: A quick restoration service is available 24/7 in the case of an emergency.
  • Regular water testing: Frequent monitoring of the quality of your water to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Water conservation systems/treatment: Regular onsite water treatment to point out any opportunities for saving money and water.

These are a few examples of what business water suppliers might offer as part of their service. If you notice a lack of additional services with your current supplier, consider swapping the provider for someone more reputable.

In Summary

There are many warning signs to be aware of when looking for an efficient business water supplier. This guide has explored the most common examples you should be aware of.

Every business will have specific needs and circumstances that need to be met; it’s important to ensure that your business’s requirements align with your provider. If not, you should be looking for better options.

4 Reasons Your Business Needs a Trustworthy Accountant

0

There’s always a mastermind behind every successful business. However, business needs something more than passion; it is a trustworthy team of employees that work relentlessly to bring you success.   Therefore, an entrepreneur must find a reliable accountant to comply with laws and regulations, save money and time, reduce risk and manage growth, besides hiring other loyal staff.

Many small business entrepreneurs in the UK struggle with their financial management systems but feel that hiring an accountant is a money burner. An accountant is a professional with years of experience working in your industry. They can develop the best solutions, maintain compliance, and structure your growth.

However, a question comes up about why to hire a trustworthy accountant in your business. Let us see the reasons in the latter part of the article.

4 reasons for hiring a trustworthy accountant for your business

Similar to other industries, the domain of accounting has several fraudsters. Moreover, the term “accountant” is not legally protected, and anyone with little numeric skills can use it without breaking the law. Business owners need to guard and select an experienced and certified professional to fit their organisation and avoid unnecessary issues.

Claim your deductions and file tax correctly.

An accounting firm in West London must know about the legal compliance at the local, state, or federal levels, which means they understand your tax deductions. While an inexperienced accountant knows only basic tax deductions, an experienced one can help you claim everything you are eligible for, saving money in your pocket.

No one prefers paying extra taxes, and it becomes an opportunity for fake accountants to suggest ways to reduce tax amounts illegally. These may result in hefty penalties.

However, certain tax deductions for entrepreneurs in the UK can reduce your tax obligations without hampering regulations. HMRC introduced several tax relief schemes for supporting small to medium-sized businesses. When an accountant assures you of knowing these reductions and their criteria, you are working with the right person who can help you save money.

Make sure you file tax returns on time every financial year and avoid penalties. A trustworthy accountant will support you in understanding your tax obligations, your financial year, tax deadlines and other regulations.

Avoid an audit

An accountant or Internal auditor is a professional who can deduce valuable insights from your financial data and help you avoid the dreaded audits. For example, if you are claiming from HMRC something you are not allowed to, you create risks of audit and potential penalties.

These experts help you make the best financial decisions possible for your business. They have the right skills, expertise, knowledge and tools to work with clients and help them find the best solutions for any problem or challenges.

Strengthen and grow your business

A most business fails due to poor financial planning. You need to look for an accountant who can help you record transactions correctly and prepare financial statements that visualise the financial health of your business. A trustworthy accountant will provide you with unbiased advice on your opportunities and risks.

A growing business has numerous requirements like funding, managing cash flow, improving customer relationships, etc. An accountant takes over your business’s financial and tax obligations and introduces financial tools that help you save time and money.

Saves time

As a company owner, you have a lot to worry about, and keeping your business finance up to date and organised becomes challenging. You hand over these tasks to an in-house accountant or outsource them. If the accountant is a fraud and tampers with your business data, employee details, and other vital information? This is why you need to hire a trustworthy accountant who is loyal and understands your business as you do.

Entrepreneurs with tight budgets won’t be able to afford an in-house accountant but wonder how much time and effort you spend on managing finance yourself. Are you worthy of the possible errors or losses due to poor financial decisions? Invest in a professional accountant who can assist you in maintaining business finances, save money and time, and help you reach your business goals.

Conclusion

There are several reasons you need to hire a trustworthy Self-Assessment Tax Return accountant for your business. Ask for their tax identification number, check online directories, ask about memberships and certifications, and look into client feedback. Never miss out on a face-to-face interview before hiring an accountant, and ensure they answer all your questions correctly. A wrong individual can charge you fewer fees and promise more but can never fulfil your requirements resulting in costly blunders.

Genprex Announces Groundbreaking Data from Non-Human Primate Study Evaluating Novel Gene Therapy to Treat Type 1 Diabetes at 16th Annual International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatment for Diabetes 2023

0
  • Results show statistically significant decreases in insulin requirements, increases in c-peptide levels and improvements in glucose tolerance compared to baseline
  • Disruptive gene therapy approach developed by University of Pittsburgh researchers may be a promising treatment for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes

Genprex, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNPX), a clinical-stage gene therapy company focused on developing life-changing therapies for patients with cancer and diabetes, today announced that data highlighting the potential of Genprex’s gene therapy for Type 1 diabetes is being presented by its research collaborators at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) at the 16th International Conference on Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD 2023) taking place February 22-25, 2023 in Berlin, Germany.

On the left is Dr. Mark Berger, Chief Medical Officer & Thomas Gallagher, Esq, Senior Vice President

The abstract data were released, and the presentation will be delivered on February 25th at 2:25 pm CET by Ranjeet S. Kalsi, DO, a member of the laboratory of George Gittes, MD, from Pitt’s Division of Pediatric Surgery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The complete presentation will be available on the Company’s website here following the close of Dr. Kalsi’s presentation.

The presentation titled, “Pancreatic Intraductal Infusion of Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) to Treat Non-Human Primates in a Toxin-Induced Diabetes Model,” will report results from eight non-human primates (NHPs) with toxin-induced diabetes after streptozocin administration. They received a novel infusion process that used an AAV vector to deliver Pdx1 and MafA genes directly to the pancreas.

“These results are compelling as they demonstrate the potential for this gene therapy to create newly formed beta-like cells that can produce insulin. They also validate earlier studies of this approach in diabetic mouse models that showed restoration of normal blood glucose levels for several months,” stated Mark Berger, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Genprex. “We are eager to continue working to advance this gene therapy into human clinical trials in order to replicate these outcomes in people and potentially provide long-term replacement of beta-cells.”

The statistically significant study results show that post-infusion of the AAV engineered construct, the eight NHPs had “decreased insulin requirements (p<0.001); increased c-peptide levels (p<0.05); and improved glucose tolerance compared to baseline (p<0.05) with one demonstrating reestablished normoglycemia. Immunohistochemistry revealed insulin and glucagon staining, which suggest the formation of insulin-producing cells.”

The diabetes technologies licensed from Pitt by Genprex were developed in the laboratory of George Gittes, MD, Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. “We are delighted with the statistically significant outcomes from this NHP study in Type-1 diabetes as it further supports our thesis on the potential of our gene therapy approach in diabetes. Importantly, it shows a positive data progression from our earlier mouse model data to these NHP data,” noted Dr. Gittes.

“These promising data are very encouraging and further support our belief that this gene therapy approach to treating diabetes has the potential to change the course of the disease in both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes,” said Rodney Varner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Genprex. “Based on data from a number of preclinical in vivo studies, we are encouraged that our novel gene therapy approach could provide long-term efficacy in humans potentially making exogenous insulin unnecessary, which would be a gamechanger for the 537 million people around the world living with diabetes.”

About Genprex, Inc.

Genprex, Inc. is a clinical-stage gene therapy company focused on developing life-changing therapies for patients with cancer and diabetes. Genprex’s technologies are designed to administer disease-fighting genes to provide new therapies for large patient populations with cancer and diabetes who currently have limited treatment options. Genprex works with world-class institutions and collaborators to develop drug candidates to further its pipeline of gene therapies in order to provide novel treatment approaches. Genprex’s oncology program utilizes its proprietary, non-viral ONCOPREX® Nanoparticle Delivery System, which the Company believes is the first systemic gene therapy delivery platform used for cancer in humans. ONCOPREX encapsulates the gene-expressing plasmids using lipid nanoparticles. The resultant product is administered intravenously, where it is then taken up by tumor cells that express tumor suppressor proteins that are deficient in the body. The Company’s lead product candidate, REQORSA® (quaratusugene ozeplasmid), is being evaluated in three clinical trials as a treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Both NSCLC clinical programs received a Fast Track Designation from the Food and Drug Administration. Genprex’s diabetes gene therapy approach is comprised of a novel infusion process that uses an endoscope and an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver Pdx1 and MafA genes directly to the pancreas. In models of Type 1 diabetes, GPX-002 transforms alpha cells in the pancreas into functional beta-like cells, which can produce insulin but are distinct enough from beta cells to evade the body’s immune system. In a similar approach, GPX-003 for Type 2 diabetes, where autoimmunity is not at play, is believed to rejuvenate and replenish exhausted beta cells.

One Year On: Andy Burnham Praises Region’s Business Community for Uniting to Create Over 100 Jobs for Ukrainian Refugees

Almost a year after the launch of United for Ukraine, new statistics reveal the initiative has, to date, helped 112 refugees secure employment. This week, Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has celebrated the success of the initiative and praised the numerous businesses involved in its inception.

Launched in April 2022 as a response to Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, the initiative aims to connect Ukrainian refugees with high quality employment, training opportunities, and support services in the region.

Burnham has expressed support for the initiative since its inception, hailing its recent statistical success as a “fantastic achievement”. A key selling point for the initiative is its level of support for those fleeing the war, including free signposting to employment and education opportunities, which is something that Burnham is encouraging to continue across the North.

The initiative is a coalition brought together at the request of leaders from the region, including North West Business Leadership Team(NWBLT), the Northern Powerhouse PartnershipThe Growth Company, and with support from the NP11 group of Local Enterprise Partnerships and leading regional businesses.

Since its launch, the campaign has supported employers promote over 400 job vacancy posts on the website. United for Ukraine has helped over 1,000 Ukrainians to access support and now seen 112 successful job starts. Jobs advertised on the website span various sectors and industries, including legal, engineering, teaching, marketing, finance, and HR.

Now, the initiative has plans to expand further north to North Yorkshire, Newcastle, and Cumbria, but needs the support of local businesses to advertise their roles on the United for Ukraine website. So far, 140 employers have advertised on the website.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said:

“In partnership with employers across the region, we’re continuing to support Ukrainian people who have been displaced to settle in our region by helping them to find employment and education opportunities.

“Since United for Ukraine launched in April last year, over 140 employers from across the region have stepped up, advertising over 400 opportunities through the jobs board. We’ve had over 112 job starts through the initiative so far.

“This is a fantastic achievement, but there is still more we can do. We need to go further and encourage more partners to come on board. We are appealing to all employers – in any sector and across the North – to advertise jobs on the United for Ukraine site.”

Emma Degg, Chief Executive of the North West Business Leadership Team, said:

“United for Ukraine demonstrates what a small and committed group of northerners can achieve through common endeavour. Business leaders and our public sector partners – led by the Growth Company – have provided meaningful and practical support to those fleeing violence who are now our neighbours.

“It has delivered much needed jobs and support for evacuees – and brilliant new employees for businesses across the region. We remain committed to supporting the initiative for as long as it is needed – and call upon other businesses to get involved too.”

Mariana Boichuk fled to England last year with her daughter to escape the war. Mariana, who is now employed at DRM Industrial Fabrics Ltd, said:

“I came to the UK with my 11-year-old daughter which was really difficult for us because my husband, my parents and all my relatives have stayed in Ukraine. When I came to the UK, I didn’t know anybody. I’m an experience, qualified machinist, so I tried to find something I knew I could do here.

“The United for Ukraine team helped me to apply for the job here at DRM Industrial Fabrics. They have helped me with the job application and preparing for the interview.

“I’m really happy to be part of the team at DRM and everyone is ready to help me, and I never feel alone here. I recommend United for Ukraine if you need help finding a job, they’re like a big family who are ready to support you and explain how something needs to be done, if you don’t know where to start.”

Andrea Kuehne, Operations Director at DRM Industrial Fabrics Ltd, who used the United for Ukraine service to recruit Mariana, said:

“We had an open vacancy for a sewing machinist. We heard about the United for Ukraine initiative and all the employment partners involved in the process. Using the service was in many ways the same as using any other recruitment platform – in that your advert is placed on a website. The difference was that the job had to have a living wage and be available for a minimum of 3 months. I was also very aware that the candidates that would come through would be refugees.

“I very much feel that United for Ukraine is a personalised service – they put their arms around the candidate and try to make sure they’re supported in the best way possible through a difficult time. I’ve no hesitation in recommending United for Ukraine – it was professional from start to finish and the support was there all the way through for me as the employer and Mariana as the candidate.”

With no end of the conflict in sight a year after the invasion began, the initiative continues to play a vital role in supporting the integration of Ukrainian refugees into the North and is a testament to the region’s commitment to helping those in need.

Truvox International’s Machines Catalyse Growth of Manchester-Based Cleaning Company

Greater Manchester-based Niz Cleaning Solutions is a small cleaning business providing office cleaning, end-of-tenancy and domestic deep cleaning plus specialist cleaning services in difficult environments such as automotive detailing. Established just 4 years ago by entrepreneur Nizam Patel, the business has grown rapidly. We talk to 21-year-old Nizam about how he has achieved such quick success.

“I’ve worked in the cleaning industry since I was 16, when I was still in full-time education,” says Nizam Patel. “My first experience of a Truvox Multiwash™ machine was as a cleaning operative at a shopping centre, and I remember it did such a great job, particularly in the washrooms.

“When I was 17, I decided to start my own cleaning business, focusing on house cleaning. I quickly realised that these homeowners also had businesses and my clients were so pleased with what I achieved in their homes, they asked me to do the same at their offices. From one-off cleans came repeat business and recommendations, and the whole thing just took off.

“I’ve got this far without any inward investment. The business has grown organically and I’ve had to purchase everything I use. That’s one of the reasons we use Truvox machines, as they’re cost effective and reliable. We also like the fact that there’s always someone at the end of the phone to help you if you’ve got an issue.”

Ease of use and reliability

“By definition, as we’re only four years into our development, we don’t have much money or time, so we need to adopt only machines that are easy to use and above all reliable. That’s where Truvox comes in. The VTVe compact tub vacuum and the Multiwash scrubber dryer help our business achieve the high standards of cleaning our customers expect, and with machines to suit every cleaning need for the commercial cleaning sector, Truvox International isn’t just a supplier, it’s a partner.

“I will say without hesitation that the VTVe from Truvox International is the best tub vacuum out there. We’ve had this machine on one of our sites for over a year now and it still works as good as new. It is so well designed – small, compact, yet powerful, and the filtration is excellent. It consistently delivers a fantastic cleaning performance; considerably better than other tub vacuum cleaners we have tried. It is also quite quiet, so can easily be used during office hours.

“Using the Multiwash is better than using a buffer and easier than a mop and bucket. When we use these machines, we know we will leave premises better than we found them, every time. And I can say from experience that it’s not all about having the latest model. You can pull an old Multiwash out of a cupboard and know that it’ll work like new.”

Sustainable solutions

“There’s a clear shift to clients wanting to know more about sustainability and they are keen to hear about more eco-friendly solutions. The Multiwash uses so little water that we can use very little chemical to achieve great results, and where we can, we recommend cleaning solutions made from natural products.

“We have regular client review meetings and I take a proactive approach in showing them anything new and better that I have found on the market. It’s all about creating partnerships to find the best solutions.”

Instagram influencer

“My generation lives off social media, and I’m proud to already be seen as an influencer on Instagram. People seem genuinely interested in my experiences and recommendations, so I don’t hesitate to share the fact that using certain products – such as machines from Truvox International – not only ensures Niz Cleaning Solutions delivers consistently excellent results, but has also helped my business grow.”

Nizam has ambitions plans which include employing up to 25 staff including a cleaning supervisor, as well as building up the commercial office cleaning and specialist services for automotive body shops.

Tech Recruiter Seeks Expansion Following Second Office Deal

After signing a lease on a second 2,100 square foot office space in Manchester city centre, a fast-growing tech recruitment firm plans to expand its staff to 50.

Fairmont Recruitment, which already has the third floor of 55 Mosley Street, has signed a 10-year lease with landlords Bluefig Investments for the entire second floor as well.

The deal gives Fairmont a combined floor space of 4,300 sq ft and CEO Jack Donohue said they were perfectly positioned for growth.

“It’s all about expansion,” he said. “We don’t want to be a reactive business. We want to be proactive in everything that we do.

“I look at my plans for where we want to be as a business and we probably hire people three months before we need to hire because we want to get them embedded into Fairmont and our culture.

“We take the same approach to our offices. We currently employ 13 people but have the space to grow to 50 and that’s the aim.

“We want to provide opportunities in Manchester. We’ve got a great culture at Fairmont Recruitment. We like to think people want to work here and we want to help people further their careers.”

Donohue said employers had to offer more than just an office to recruit and retain the best staff.

“We offer a four-day working week at Fairmont so we want people to be in the office for those four days,” he said. “That’s why we went above and beyond for our office. We have an outdoor terrace, big screens, pool table, chill-out area and collaboration space.

“We’ve already hosted a number of events on the second floor and we’ll mainly use that space for business development. The third floor will be used for sales delivery.”

Donohue said Fairmont was looking at international growth but said Manchester’s tech sector was still thriving.

“We’ve had some really positive conversations in the US and India so international is looking really good for us at the moment,” he said.

“In terms of Manchester there are a lot of tech firms who want to be in the city. There’s also a lot of building work taking place, which is really encouraging.”

Fairmont Recruitment was founded in 2018 and moved to Manchester from their previous office in Booth Park, Knutsford in August 2022.
