For Charity, Salford Quays Nursery to Race Mega Duck !

As part of the Business Challenge Mega Duck Race, Kids Planet Salford Quays has once again entered to raise funds for children’s charity Med Equip 4 Kids.

In front of a keen audience on Good Friday 7th April 2023 at the Helly Hansen Watersports centre, Kids Planet will join other businesses in the race of the branded ducks. The ducks will also be on display on the day with prizes presented for being fastest and the ‘best dressed’.

Money raised from the event will go towards helping MedEquip4Kids provide vital medical equipment for hospitals across the UK, and in particular here in the North West, a cause close to Kids Planet’s heart.

On the day, there will also be a community race, where members of the public can race ducklings, there will be family friendly entertainment, delicious food, face painting, prizes and much more!

Gemma Corpe, Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Salford Quays, said:

“We are delighted to get involved again this year with this local initiative. The Quays is very much water based and there are lots of water activities, so it’s a great way to connect and give back!

Last year was a great fun day out for families and it was lovely to get our parents involved; we had lots of positive feedback from parents.

The children enjoy taking part too by helping us with designs and ideas for how to decorate the duck, alongside their families. We even align this with our preschool curriculum to look at colours and patterns with the children.

This year I am glad that the ducks have been recycled from the previous year, which avoids plastic waste. It’s great to know our duck has been used and got a good bath before coming to a new home to be used again!”
