LONDON, UK. October 8th, 2026 – South London fitness and community organisation MGM Gym, established by siblings Jonathan Moore and Hannah Ruth-Moore, is preparing for its next phase of development after building a growing membership base and an established presence in local schools. Since opening in Deptford in 2023, the organisation has brought together fitness, martial arts, dance and youth mentoring, with ambitions to expand its reach over the coming year.
Named in memory of their father, Milton George Moore, MGM Gym has grown to around 80 members since its launch. The siblings aim to more than double membership within the next 12 months while creating further opportunities through the gym and their school-based programmes.
Jonathan leads the gym’s Muay Thai programme, combining physical conditioning with martial arts training to encourage mental wellbeing. Participants work on fitness and technique while building confidence, discipline and resilience.
Functional fitness sessions provide another option, helping members improve movement and everyday physical capability. Hannah Ruth-Moore, a professional dancer with more than 30 years of experience, oversees the dedicated dance studio, Sayaw Studios.
Sayaw provides dance training for children, young people and adults, with classes that support coordination, strength, movement and overall fitness. The studio complements MGM’s broader offering, bringing the siblings’ professional backgrounds together under one organisation.
Jonathan and Hannah have accumulated more than 50 years of combined experience, which has helped shape MGM Gym’s development. Their work in education and youth engagement began well before the gym opened.
Since 2012, the siblings have delivered specialist Muay Thai and dance sessions in schools across London. Their programmes currently reach around 3,000 pupils each week across approximately 20 schools.
Designed for young people aged 11 to 18, the sessions combine physical activity with the development of practical life skills. Participants can pursue Muay Thai, dance or both disciplines, depending on their interests.
“We have been supporting schools and providing dance and Muay Thai programmes since 2012, operating within 20 schools in London and working with around 3,000 pupils a week,” Jonathan said. “For us, it is about life-skill development. Hard work, discipline, honesty and fun are the messages we like to put across.”
This longstanding commitment to mentoring continues to underpin the organisation’s work, connecting its gym activities with schools, young people and the wider South London community.
The founders also bring experience in online delivery, having moved their programmes into digital formats during the Covid-19 pandemic. They are now exploring renewed opportunities in this area, supported by a planned relaunch of the MGM Gym website later this year.
The updated website is expected to help strengthen the organisation’s digital presence and support its existing gym, school and mentoring activities, opening up additional ways to engage with audiences beyond South London.
Since establishing its Deptford base, MGM Gym has continued to broaden its community activities, including the introduction of its own running club.
Looking ahead, the founders intend to expand steadily while drawing on their experience of working with gym members, schools and young people. Their priority is to grow the organisation without losing the community values that have shaped its development.
Jonathan believes MGM has the potential to reach communities across the country. “I see MGM Gyms in every city and town in the country, I really do think that could happen,” he said. “We have come so far since opening in Deptford.”
In the short term, the focus will remain on increasing gym membership, developing the online offering following the website relaunch and sustaining the school and mentoring programmes established over the past decade.
Together, these areas of activity form the basis of the siblings’ ambition to grow MGM Gym into a UK-wide operation while maintaining the community-centred approach that has defined its beginnings.
