Chapelhouse Plugs into Charge-M8

0

Popular North West car dealership, Chapelhouse, will soon offer a home charging installation service to customers of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, thanks to support from electric car charging specialists, Charge-M8.

The well known dealership has 15 sites across the North-West of England and after experiencing a sharp increase in demand for electric and hybrid vehicles are delighted to get Charge-M8 on board to give their customers a comprehensive range of home charging installation options.

Phil Clay, Managing Director of Chapelhouse said: “We are thrilled to partner with Charge m8 with an aim to offer our customers the very best level of service alongside our fantastic EV products making the change to EV simpler for our customers. Chapelhouse is a family business trading for over 30 years offering new MG, Suzuki, Kia and used vehicles too. As a company Charge m8 are aligned with our vision and values and I am therefore thrilled with the partnership.”

Charge-M8 was the obvious partner for Chapelhouse, with their coveted Trading Standards “buy with confidence” accreditation and excellent customer service record ensuring their customers are in safe hands. chapelhouse image 2 scaled

Chapelhouse customers can choose from a range of market leading EV chargers, rather than a single recommended unit. “From feedback we knew that our customers wanted to choose an EV charger that complimented their home, and with so many style and colour options we didn’t consider a single brand or model to be the best option” continued Phil, “and charger models that integrate with market leading EV tariffs such as Octopus Energy and OVO are key considerations in our customers decision making, being able to drive for less than 3 pence per mile is one of the big attractions of making the switch to an electric vehicle”.

Also known informally as ‘wall boxes’, Charge-M8 manufacture and install their own EV chargers for workplace applications, and are manufacturer approved installation partners for some of the biggest brands in home EV Charging. A key differentiator is Charge-m8 only using their own fully employed expert installation engineers to guarantee your EV charging point is installed to the highest standards, a policy which shines through in the exceptional customer feedback they receive.

Julian Smith, Founder and CEO of Charge-M8 said: “We’re delighted to join forces and work with Phil and the Chapelhouse team. Our agreement includes industry leading SLA’s (service level agreements) which our team use to monitor and benchmark our service for Chapelhouse customers. The excellent feedback from installations since launching the scheme is hopefully just the start!”
Charge-M8 are fast becoming the go-to company for both domestic and commercial EV Charging installations.  Approved by both the Office For Zero Emmission Vehicles (OZEV) and most of the major EV Charging Brands, the Technical Experts at Charge-M8 can help to identify your requirements and install the perfect EV charging solution for you. Just give us a call or complete the enquiry form on our website and we’ll be in touch!

FA charge Manchester City – but Haaland escapes individual sanction

Manchester City have been charged with failing to control their players during yesterday’s 3-3 draw with Tottenham – but Erling Haaland has not been hit with a separate sanction.

Norway striker Haaland led the protests from the City players, getting in the face of Simon Hooper after the referee whistled for a free-kick when Jack Grealish appeared to be through on goal in stoppage time.

Hooper had initially played advantage as Haaland got back to his feet following a foul from Emerson Royal, only to give the free-kick when Grealish received a throughball from the striker.

Having watched the incident, the FA have decided on a collective charge.

A statement read: “Manchester City have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 3 December 2023.

“It’s alleged that, during the 94th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper.

“Manchester City have until Thursday 7 December 2023 to respond to the charge.”

Arsenal boss Arteta not encouraged by Manchester City wobble

Mikel Arteta is not getting carried away with Manchester City’s recent wobble and insists his Arsenal players provide all the hope he needs that they can land the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners could move five points clear at the summit tomorrow night – for 24 hours at least – with a win at Luton with main challengers City currently on a three-game winless run stretching back a month.

Arteta is not spending too much time looking at matters elsewhere, however, and is focused on a difficult test at Kenilworth Road.

Asked if he was given encouragement by City’s recent blip, he said: “Encouragement? No.

“That comes from watching my team play, watching them behave every single day, how hungry and willing they are to play every game, how they approach every training session. That gives me encouragement, what the others do we cannot control.”

Arteta spent yesterday watching title rivals City, who drew 3-3 with Tottenham, and Liverpool, who earned a last-gasp 4-3 win over Fulham, struggle but the Spaniard was not surprised given his belief that the Premier League has got better this season.

He added: “The league is different, it’s gone up another level.

“I was watching the games yesterday afternoon, and it’s incredible, how games change, the momentum changes, the quality of the opponents, the quality of the managers…

“We don’t know how it’s going to continue but, at the minute, we are in a good place. If we want to be in a better place tomorrow night, we are going to have to play very well.”

Luton’s rise from the Conference to the Premier League has impressed Arteta, as has the work done by his opposite number Rob Edwards, and he is expecting a tricky encounter at the Hatters’ tight, intimidating home.

“It’s an inspiring place and what they’ve done is remarkable,” said Arteta.

“What Rob did with the team last year, how they did it. What they transmit as a team…it’s an amazing story. They deserve all the credit they are getting for the way they are playing and the results they have got. Tomorrow we are going to have an intense and difficult match.

“I think they are a really good team, the table doesn’t reflect what they’ve done. To play there is something we have already discussed with the players. It’ll be different but positive as is the tradition of English football.

“It’s incredible the way they’ve done it. It’s a leading example for any Premier League club and gives hope to any club that wants to emulate that.

Arteta did his Pro Licence with Edwards and was full of praise for what he has achieved in Bedfordshire.

“He’s a great coach and a really special person,” he added. “You can tell by the way he coaches this team and the way his players behave.”

Bukayo Saka is set to make his 200th appearance in all competitions for Arsenal tomorrow night with Arteta labelling the 22-year-old “a special guy”.

Law firm helping refugees reunite for Christmas

0

A Manchester law firm is offering free legal services to a refugee employment charity in a bid to help immigrants and asylum seekers reunite with their families for Christmas.

Barings Law has teamed up with Breaking Barriers to provide pro bono support to those who have often fled war, persecution and violence abroad in order to be with their loved ones in the UK.

The legal experts have been assisting refugees referred by the charity with various legal documents and processing applications.

Breaking Barriers

Breaking Barriers helps refugees into meaningful employment with advice, experience and education.

Since the charity started in 2015, it has supported more than 2,300 refugees and secured 1,905 employment, education and volunteering outcomes for the clients they support.

Since the partnership began, Barings Law has received up to three cases a week with many resulting in successful settlements, including helping one man to reunite with his wife in the UK.

Reassurance

Immigration adviser at the firm, Jamila Nelson, has been providing help and advice to those referred by Breaking Barriers.

She said: “Sometimes all the refugees need is reassurance, to know that they’ve been heard and that they will be helped.

“It is very important to remain humane, help and make sure people know we are here to help.

“Because of strict requirements in family reunion cases, a lot of clients have difficulties accessing help and bringing their loved ones into the country for a safer and better future as applications can only be made for immediate family members.

“At Barings Law we help every step of the way, from initially getting in contact and doing research to referring asylum seekers to organisations and following up afterwards.

“Our goal is to help as many families as we can.”

Asylum

According to Breaking Barriers, over 70,000 people claimed asylum in the UK last year.

From June 2022 to May of this year, the charity helped over 1,100 refugees which is more than in any previous year and hopes to increase the number to 4,000 refugees a year by 2030.

Sam Bridge-Tonner, senior programme manager at Breaking Barriers said: “In light of the pressure on legal aid services for refugees and people seeking asylum, having a law firm willing to offer their team’s expertise pro bono, was a great relief.

“It eases a lot of the pressure on our advisers knowing that we have a reliable team of qualified law practitioners who can respond to our clients’ queries and requests within days, even hours.

“Our charity exists so every refugee in the UK can build a new life.

“We are proud of our partnership with Barings Law. Their legal expertise perfectly complements the specialised employment support that we offer, so that refugees can find and build a new life in the UK.

“We know that the power of businesses to change lives is limitless. We hope that our work with Barings Law inspires other legal firms, or businesses in any sector, to get involved too.”

Frustrated Haaland finally smiles at Scream meme

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland may be facing a possible FA charge but he was at least seeing the funny side of his furious outburst at referee Simon Hooper yesterday.

Haaland got in Hooper’s face in stoppage time at the end of the 3-3 draw against Tottenham after the official whistled for a free-kick when Jack Grealish appeared to be through on goal.

Hooper initially played advantage as Haaland got back to his feet following a foul from Emerson Royal, only to give the free-kick when Grealish received a throughball from the striker.

An image of the Norway international screaming in frustration swiftly swept the internet and became the subject of numerous memes, one of which – depicting Haaland as the face on the famous Scream painting by his countryman Edvard Munch – caught the player’s eye.

It is unlikely the FA will see the funny side, though, with both City and Haaland potentially facing charges for their conduct.

The European champions will hope any sanction does not affect Haaland’s availability for Wednesday’s tricky trip to Aston Villa with Grealish and Rodri already suspended.

England’s Wiegman not expecting Scotland favour with Olympic qualification on the line

Sarina Wiegman is not expecting England to have an easy ride when they face Scotland in the UEFA Women’s Nations League on Tuesday, despite the Scots needing to lose to have any chance of playing at next year’s Olympic Games.

England sit second in Group A1 with one game remaining, having kept their hopes of reaching the Nations League Finals alive with Friday’s thrilling 3-2 win over the table-topping Netherlands.

In addition to hosts France, only two European nations will qualify for the women’s football tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with those berths going to the top two teams from the top tier of the Nations League (excluding Les Bleues).

England are the home nation tasked with securing qualification for Team GB, who Wiegman will coach if they reach the Olympics.

As a result, fellow home nation Scotland must lose to England to give the Lionesses a chance of securing top spot ahead of the Dutch, who host Belgium in their final game on Tuesday.

With England and the Netherlands level on the head-to-head tiebreaker, the Lionesses must win and hope the Dutch fail to do so, or better their margin of victory by three clear goals.

Wiegman, however, believes Scotland’s desire to get one over on their old rivals will take precedence over any calculations regarding the Olympics, saying: “If you have seen the history between England and Scotland… then you know there’s no way they’re going to give us an easy game.

“They really want to beat England and we want to beat them, of course.

“There’s a rivalry and we saw that when we played them in England [in September’s 2-1 win]. There’s no easy solution. This is about fair play and about football.”

England found themselves two goals down against the Netherlands at Wembley Stadium last time out before roaring back after the break, with Ella Toone’s stoppage-time strike capping a remarkable fightback from the Lionesses.

Wiegman is hoping for a better start on Tuesday, saying: “Every game we want to win and we take it from there. We know what we have to do, but the Netherlands and Belgium also know what they have to do.

“It’s still open but we’re going to give our best and hopefully that can bring us something special.

“We always try to have an attacking start, we want to score goals and we don’t want to concede any.

“We have to go out tomorrow and attack, and be wary that if we lose the ball we have to regain it as quickly as possible.”

Gallagher baffled by Hooper decision but says referee will be ‘so upset’

Dermot Gallagher admitted Simon Hooper will be “so upset” after his late error in yesterday’s 3-3 draw between Manchester City and Tottenham but the former Premier League referee believes the criticism that has followed seems “a little unfair”.

Hooper was at the centre of the fall-out following a pulsating game for his decision to blow for a Manchester City free-kick in stoppage time, having initially waved play-on, that denied Jack Grealish a clear run on goal.

Hooper not being stood down following error

Erling Haaland was the player fouled and his feelings were best summed up by a tweet that simply read “WTF”.

Gallagher, speaking on Sky Sports News’ Ref Watch segment, said: “It’s difficult because this is a referee who plays more advantage than anyone. He normally lets it go and takes a long time to bring it back. Sometimes I feel he’s on the cusp [of letting it go too long].

“Here he quite rightly plays on [initially] and you can see why. The ball goes through to Grealish and, for whatever reason, Simon puts the whistle to his mouth and blows it.

“We spoke a few weeks ago about referees being like players, the best players delay a little bit. If he waits a second the whole landscape changes. It’s unfortunate he didn’t, it’s an error he’s made.”

By the letter of the law, Hooper didn’t actually make a mistake but Gallagher questioned his interpretation of the advantage rule.

He added: “It’s the referee’s choice to play advantage, no-one else’s. In law he hasn’t done anything wrong, it’s just how we apply the law.

“It’s really unfair because he’s the one referee that stands out as one who really pushes the advantage rule.”

Having been in that situation, Gallagher said he knew how Hooper would be feeling today.

“We take things very personally,” he said. “He’ll be so upset this morning, he will be smarting.

“It’s ironic that if he’d given the first free-kick…but having done what he’s done, he’s done the clever stuff to let it go. If he’d taken just one second, we’d be seeing him as a much different referee to as we are now.”

Asked why he thought Hooper blew, Gallagher was stumped.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” he said.

“Offside is a red herring as the flag didn’t go up and as a referee I’d never judge offside.

“Whether he thought the ball would go through to the keeper, I don’t know.

“He’s done all the hard work and for one second we are making a judgement on him for a 100-minute game, which seems very unfair.”
