Manchester United defender Lindelof: We know what we have to do differently

Victor Lindelof claims he knows what Manchester United have to do differently when Chelsea visit Old Trafford tonight.

United’s players have been hit with a wave of criticism following a woeful display in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, with pundits questioning their commitment while there have also been reports of dressing room mutiny towards coach Erik ten Hag.

The weekend defeat saw United slip to seventh in the Premier League table but Sweden defender Lindelof is confident of an improved showing against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

He told MUTV: “Obviously after a defeat, you’re not happy and I don’t think we performed well in that game [at Newcastle]. We played against a good opponent who are strong at home but we didn’t reach the level we wanted to in that game.

“Every defeat at this club is not good enough but we have moved on and we have another big game coming up.

“After a defeat it’s hard to find positive things. We have gone through it and we know what we have to do differently and hopefully we can do that in the next game.”

The atmosphere could turn hostile tonight if Saturday’s lacklustre performance is repeated but Lindelof dismissed the notion that playing at home increases the pressure on the players.

“I always want to play at home,” said the 29-year-old, “all the guys do as well.

“We play in our home, with our fans. It’s always a great atmosphere and a pleasure to be at Old Trafford, everyone is looking forward to it.

“It’s up to us to go out there and show what type of team we are and after a defeat you want to play the next game and put things right.

“They [Chelsea] are a very good team. It will be a difficult game, as it always is against them, and we’ll have to be at 100 per cent if we are going to beat them.”

Half of consumers admit haggling for life’s essentials this year

0

More than half of consumers (51%) admit they have haggled for an essential product or service this year, according to new research.

The survey of 1,000 people by Purbeck Personal Guarantee Insurance, suggests the UK’s small businesses need to be on guard as one in five respondents said they thought it was fine to barter when buying from an independent retailer or small business owner.

A third of those quizzed said they planned to drive down business owners’ prices to save costs this Christmas.

The poll also found that 32% have saved up to £200 this year by haggling, while one in ten had recouped over £500.

However not all haggling attempts have been successful, as 27% said they didn’t save a penny as their attempts were declined.

Shoppers said they also feel it’s acceptable to haggle if the item is cheaper elsewhere (72%) or the item is high value like a car or piece of technology (53%).

Paying in cash was also deemed an acceptable reason to haggle by 46%. 59% of men said they had haggled opposed to 43% of women.

Interestingly, the higher the income, the more likely a person is to haggle. 58% of people earning £40,000 plus a year have haggled this year compared to 47% of those earning £10,000-£19,999.

Those in the East Midlands (21%) are least likely to have haggled, while those in the West Midlands were most likely (63%) to have tried to bag a bargain.

Todd Davison, MD of Purbeck Personal Guarantee Insurance said: “Haggling has not been part of our culture in the UK, particularly for essential items so this survey really demonstrates that people are shaking off their British reserve and trying their luck to help mitigate rising living costs.

“With one in five believing a small business is an acceptable target for haggling attempts, business owners will need to be prepared as the countdown to Christmas commences.”

Manchester United winger Antony hits back at Neville, Ferdinand and Co

Manchester United winger Antony has lashed out at his critics – which include the likes of Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes – and claimed the “digital court” of social media is making life harder during his current “period of turbulence”.

The Brazil international has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford following his £85million move from Ajax last year, and has also had issues off the field with allegations of assault made by three separate women in his homeland. The player denies any wrongdoing.

‘We are together’ – Erik ten Hag slams reports of Manchester United unrest

And while the 23-year-old accepts pressure comes from playing for clubs such as Manchester United, he feels TV pundits often criticise without knowing the full story.

Antony told the United Stand: “My life has always been very challenging, and I have had to go through many situations that many cannot imagine. I grew up in a hostile place, where eating, having a good house, having the internet, and access to a good education were a privilege; I would say that for us on the ‘favelas,’ all of these were a luxury few people could have. This was a period in which I learned to deal with pressure and challenges. The pressure of life.

“Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play.

“But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional. None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through.

“The ‘digital court’ is ruining lives; contexts are left aside, and the truth no longer matters.”

Antony, who is in the squad for tonight’s game with Chelsea at Old Trafford, is now working hard to get back to his best and help United climb the Premier League table.

He added: “I am silently rebuilding myself, and I know that I will be able to be in my best physical and mental shape and overcome all these barriers and challenges that are in front of me because it has always been like this in my life; no one has ever given me anything, I have always fought hard for everything I achieved!

“I would like to know how these people who make these unfair and malicious criticisms fared in my place.

“I’m 23 years old, and my life has changed radically in the last four years. It wasn’t easy to assimilate and understand all those changes.

“My daily battle is getting back in my best shape and performing at the highest level on the field, regaining my integrity, and having peace of mind! I advise those young players to take care of their mental side and work hard; then, things will happen naturally.”

Opportunities for immigrant innovators in tech start-ups

0

Imagine the tech start-up landscape, buzzing with innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. Now consider this – a significant portion of that energy comes from immigrant innovators.

The impact of these talented individuals on tech start-ups is enormous, transforming markets through their unique perspectives and resilience. They not only create job opportunities but also drive technological advancements.

But what about challenges? Navigating immigration policies can be tough for many immigrant entrepreneurs. Yet, despite these hurdles, they persist in creating influential companies and products.

It’s intriguing, isn’t it? So let’s dive into the world of immigrant innovators in tech start-ups – understanding their influence, overcoming obstacles as an outsider entrepreneur, appreciating their intellectual contributions to technology sectors like AI, and celebrating the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit within them.

The impact of immigrant entrepreneurs on tech start-ups

Immigrant entrepreneurs have been making waves in the tech start-up sector, bringing fresh perspectives and unique solutions to complex problems. Their contributions extend beyond just their innovative ideas; they’re driving market growth as well.

The power of immigrant-led start-ups

Innovations brought forth by immigrant-led start-ups are reshaping industries. These companies aren’t simply filling gaps in the market; they’re creating new markets entirely. The ripple effect is significant – boosting economic activity and stimulating job creation.

A glance at the Silicon Valley region, widely regarded as a leader in advanced technology and development, bolsters this idea. Many successful tech firms were founded or co-founded by immigrants who dared to dream big and work hard toward realising those dreams.

This isn’t merely anecdotal evidence; it’s backed up by numbers too. Over half of US unicorns have an immigrant founder, confirming the success of those who dream big and work hard.

An influx of fresh perspectives

Diversity brings a wealth of benefits, particularly when it comes to problem-solving within diverse teams. With different cultural backgrounds come varied experiences, which lead to distinctive ways of thinking—crucial for innovation.

Consider Elon Musk—an immigrant entrepreneur from South Africa—who has fundamentally altered our perception of electric vehicles with Tesla while simultaneously pushing boundaries in space travel with SpaceX.

The team at Pro Se Pro understands that sometimes you don’t just need laws to change; you also require platforms that give you a voice against systems designed to hinder your progress.

The influence of immigration policies on tech start-ups

Immigration policies can significantly impact the growth of tech start-ups, from who is able to start one to who must leave. They determine who is allowed to initiate, who has to wait, and sometimes, necessitating them to leave.

Interplay between immigration policies and start-up growth

Start-ups thrive on innovation and diversity. It’s no secret that immigrant entrepreneurs have been at the forefront of technological advancements for decades now. Yet, immigration policies can either be a boon or a bane for these innovators.

Tech start-ups often face challenges when hiring skilled workers due to visa restrictions. This limitation hampers their ability to grow rapidly as compared with firms that don’t face such constraints. Research from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) shows current immigration policies impact start-up growth significantly.

In fact, not only does this influence employment practices, but it also dictates where companies choose to set up shop. Regions with flexible immigration laws tend to attract more tech businesses because it allows them easy access to talent pools worldwide. According to Stanford Graduate School of Business research, location is a crucial factor in attracting immigrant-led tech firms.

Policies that could fuel the future of tech start-ups

Given how much immigrants contribute to innovation market growth in sectors like technology and artificial intelligence, the American Economic Association’s study suggests there is a need for more immigrant-friendly policies.

A Start-up Visa could be developed to make it simpler for immigrant business owners to establish their companies in the U.S., thus making it easier for them to bring on personnel from all over the world and foster innovation while generating jobs domestically with fewer hurdles. It would also enable these innovators to hire globally, driving innovation and creating job opportunities domestically. The Start-up Visa, an initiative proposed by several tech industry leaders, aims to achieve this very goal.

Overcoming challenges as an immigrant innovator

Navigating the tech sector can be a complex task for immigrant innovators. But it’s not insurmountable. The challenges they face often act as catalysts that propel them to innovate more.

Strategies for success in the tech sector

The key to success lies in recognising and effectively managing these obstacles. To do this, immigrant innovators need strategies tailored to their unique circumstances. It may be that they need a graduate visa.

Firstly, understanding and navigating regulatory landscapes are crucial. Policies vary significantly across countries, and keeping abreast of changes can provide a competitive edge. U.S. immigration laws, for example, offer visas specifically designed for individuals with specialised knowledge, like H1-B or O-1 visas.

A strong network is another important asset – both within one’s own community and beyond. Networking helps gain valuable insights about market trends and opportunities while also facilitating collaborations that could lead to innovative solutions.

Funding remains one of the biggest hurdles faced by many start-ups; however, several initiatives cater explicitly to supporting immigrant-led ventures like Unshackled Ventures. They aim to help immigrants turn their start-up dreams into reality without worrying about visa restrictions during fundraising rounds.

To succeed further, focusing on developing core competencies becomes essential; being clear about what sets your venture apart from others will help attract investors’ attention faster than anything else. Research suggests that immigrant innovators often excel in problem-solving, creativity, and resilience – traits highly valued by investors.

Last but not least, let’s remember the importance of understanding local markets and cultures when trying to make a mark globally. Success can depend heavily on your product or service’s ability to resonate with diverse audiences.

The road might seem tough at times for immigrant innovators in tech start-ups. But it is these very challenges that lead them to innovate more, contributing significantly to technology and global competitiveness.

Intellectual contributions of immigrant innovators

The tech industry owes a debt to the brainpower and creativity of immigrant innovators. Their intellectual contributions have not only shaped technological advancements but also spurred economic growth.

Case studies of immigrant inventors

An exemplary case is that of Elon Musk, an immigrant from South Africa who has revolutionised multiple industries, including space travel with SpaceX, electric vehicles with Tesla, and online payments with PayPal.

Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google and originally from Russia, offers another compelling story. His work on search engine technology turned Google into a global powerhouse that redefined access to information.

We mustn’t forget about Satya Nadella’s contribution either. Born in India, he now leads Microsoft as its CEO – driving innovation across cloud computing technologies like Azure, which underpins much modern software development.

A macroscopic view:

Moving beyond individual stories allows us to appreciate the full-scale impact immigrants have had on the U.S. tech industry. According to NFAP research, over half (51%) of billion-dollar start-ups in the United States were founded by immigrants, while these companies created an average of 760 jobs per company in the U.S., highlighting their significant role in job creation.

Entrepreneurial spirit among immigrants

The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and thriving among immigrants. With unique perspectives, resilience, and a drive to succeed, they are making their mark in the tech startup sector.

Profiles of prominent immigrant entrepreneurs

There is no lack of successful foreign business owners who have had a lasting influence on tech start-ups. Take Sergey Brin, for instance: co-founder of Google, he was born in Russia before migrating to the United States as a child.

We also have Elon Musk, originally from South Africa. As the founder of companies like SpaceX and Tesla Inc., his contributions to technology innovation are undeniably impressive.

Last but not least is Andrew Viterbi, an Italian-born co-founder of Qualcomm Incorporated; his invention has been pivotal in modern digital communication systems.

Potential barriers faced by immigrant innovators

In spite of these success stories, it’s important we acknowledge that many immigrant innovators face significant challenges when trying to establish themselves within the tech industry.

This includes hurdles related to language proficiency or cultural differences that may affect networking opportunities—a critical component for any entrepreneur. Additionally, navigating immigration policies can often be complex and daunting..

Fuelling economic growth through entrepreneurship

Above all else, though, is evidence showing how much immigrants contribute to economic growth through entrepreneurship. They start businesses at twice the rate of native-born Americans.

Furthermore, according to the National Foundation for American Policy, immigrants have started more than half (44 of 87) of America’s start-up companies valued at $1 billion or more.

Immigrant innovators in AI and technology

The innovation landscape of the artificial intelligence (AI) and technology sectors is being reshaped by the profound contributions of immigrant innovators. Their role in driving forward these rapidly evolving fields cannot be understated, given their high entrepreneurial spirit.

Future trends and predictions for immigrant innovation

Trends indicate a promising future for immigrant innovators. The participation rate of immigrants in start-ups has seen steady growth over the years. But it’s not just about numbers; the quality of innovations brought forth by these entrepreneurs also speaks volumes.

A study from the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP) reports that 55% of America’s billion-dollar start-ups had at least one immigrant founder, emphasising their significant impact on tech sector success.

This trend suggests an exciting forecast: more diverse ideas leading to ground breaking technological advancements driven by a multicultural workforce with unique perspectives and experiences.

Navigating challenges: An ongoing journey

The path toward success as an immigrant entrepreneur can often come with hurdles like cultural differences or restrictive immigration policies. Yet, overcoming these challenges often results in stronger business strategies fuelled by resilience, another trait commonly found among immigrants.

VentureBeat’s report reveals how, despite policy limitations, immigrants continue to significantly influence the US tech start-up boom due to their unwavering determination.

Inspiring stories behind successful tech start-ups

No conversation about innovation would be complete without acknowledging the inspiring stories behind successful start-ups led by visionary immigrant entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk (Tesla), Sergey Brin (Google), and Pierre Omidyar (eBay). Their work is not just about creating lucrative businesses; it’s also about pushing the boundaries of what’s technologically possible.

Their stories remind us that immigrant innovators have been, are, and will continue to be an integral part of shaping the AI and technology sectors. They’re driving change through their creations while simultaneously inspiring a new generation of tech enthusiasts around the world.

Intellectual contributions: The engine driving tech growth

The contributions of intellectual minds play a significant role. They fuel progress and stimulate innovative ideas that shape our world.

Conclusion

Unravelling the story of immigrant innovators in tech start-ups, we see a tale of grit, resilience, and sheer brilliance. Opportunities for immigrant innovators in tech Start-Ups are vast and varied. The power they wield is undeniable – driving market growth with their unique insights. What is the impact of immigration policies on start-up development?

Navigating these challenges requires strategic thinking – it’s about finding success amidst obstacles. Their intellectual contributions? They’re game-changers for our economy. Remember the high rate of entrepreneurship among immigrants? It fuels economic growth. Remember their role in AI advancement—it shapes future trends.

In essence, celebrating immigrant innovators isn’t just right; it’s crucial for technology evolution and global competitiveness. So let’s continue to support them as they transform our world, one innovation at a time!

Formula One confirms 2024 sprint races with Miami and China among six venues

Formula One has confirmed the locations of the six sprint races which will form part of the 2024 calendar, with China and Miami adding the events to their race weekends.

As in 2023, the Grands Prix in Austria, Brazil and Qatar, as well as the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, will stage editions of the Saturday sprint races.

The events in Azerbaijan and Belgium will revert to the regular format, with Miami and China – which will return to the schedule for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic – hosting the additional two events.

Talks are ongoing regarding potential changes to the sprint race format, with final proposals for any alterations due to be submitted in January.

It’s thought likely that the schedule of sprint race weekends will be changed, bringing sprint qualifying forward to Fridays and allowing the sprint races themselves to occupy the first Saturday session.

Changes to allow setup tweaks to cars between the sprint races and Saturday qualifying could also be proposed, with F1’s current parc-ferme regulations currently barring significant alterations after the Friday practice session.

More radical ideas such as a reverse grid for sprint races – which has been endorsed by Red Bull team principal Christian Horner – also remain up for discussion.

The 2024 F1 season will begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix between February 29 and March 2, with the year’s first sprint race taking place on the fifth weekend, when F1 returns to Shanghai for the first time since 2019.

Apple offers this gifting season

With the holidays rapidly approaching it’s time to break open those wallets and ponder the best gifts for the people we hold dear.

Tech can make for some of the best surprises, and if anyone special in your friend or family group is an Apple fanatic, then you’re spoiled for choice. Of course, with so much choice comes the question of what could be the right fit.

On this page, we’ll break down some of the most popular and impressive Apple products you can gift this Christmas.

From accessories to laptops, you should get some idea of where to start. If you wanted to ask recipients some subtle questions about what they might like, that approach could work too…

Starting with the sound

Like buying a toy only to find it didn’t ship with batteries, getting the most from Apple products also involves employing the right accessories. Apple’s AirPods are a great example, held as some of the best in the Bluetooth audio business. No matter what model you settle on you’ll get great results, but there are some key differences which might matter more to some users.

https://youtu.be/ql6mhhHCldY

If you’re after a smaller profile, then all of the smaller AirPod models are designed with the same great emphasis on ergonomics. If battery life is a major concern, then the larger on-ear AirPods Max devices – £499.00 can boast up to three times the operating life between charging.

Going mobile

Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market has been one of the most reliable stalwarts of the mobile space, and new iPhone models continue to hold pace. The model you should invest in again depends on the needs of the user, and how much they’ll rely on the features of each system.

Smartphone users who push their phones as far as possible could appreciate iPhone 15 Pro Max’s – £1199 as the preferred option. These are the biggest and the fastest, but some users might not bother with what they bring. For more regular users, standard iPhone 15 – £799 models could do just as well. These are still of the highest quality, so they’re still great gifts.

A Choice in Computers

Rounding out this list are Macbook systems and iMacs for those who need a capable work, creative, or general browsing device. There again a myriad of opportunities here, from smaller devices for those with limited space like MacBook Air 13-inch platforms – £999 to the cutting edge M3 equipped 16” MacBook Pro – £4099 for getting serious hardcore work done.

No matter what direction you end up heading in, it’s always a good idea to put in the research for the exact model first. People less involved in the tech world can lead you down a path of bad choices, and since Apple systems are premium machines, this can hurt. If somebody suggests iMacs for gaming, for example, they don’t really know what they’re talking about. You should also be sure to buy from one of the many places that offer 0% finance deals, to make your purchase even sweeter.

The benefits of zip and link divan beds

0

Zip and link divan beds provide a uniquely adaptable solution for customisable comfort, combining two separate mattresses and bases into one seamless super king or king bed.

They are ideal for guest bedrooms and couples with different body weights because you can choose a different mattress firmness for each side.

Is a zip and link bed right for you? We cover the benefits below.

What is a zip and link divan bed?

zip and link divan bed consists of two separate divan bases that can be connected to create a larger bed. The bases connect using sturdy metal links on the sides, and the special zip and link mattresses designed for these systems feature durable zippers that securely join the two mattresses into one surface.

Zip and link beds allow you to convert between twin beds and a king or super king bed on the fly. Two small single mattresses make up a king bed; for a super king, it’s two single (90cm wide) mattresses.

Benefits for couples with differing sleep needs

The most significant advantage of zip and link beds for couples is the ability to customise each side of the bed. Couples can select a different mattress firmness, depth, or type for each portion of the bed to accommodate their different body types, sleeping positions, and comfort needs to get the best night’s sleep.

In many cases, the zipped seam between the mattresses is below the mattress surface and away from the centre of the bed, so it won’t be noticeable or cause discomfort for couples.

Flexible guest room configuration

Zip and link divan beds offer lodging providers tremendous flexibility with the ability to create a twin or king room. The twin beds can be configured as two single beds to accommodate friends travelling together or couples who prefer their own space.

This adjustability maximises occupancy rates and guest satisfaction, and the sturdy linking system ensures the connected beds feel stable and seamless.

Easier mattress maintenance

image2

Pictured: Giltedge Beds Cloud 3000 Zip & Link 5FT King size Divan Bed, (Zip and Link beds as the name suggests allows you to easily unlink into two single beds, which is ideal for guest houses etc.)

As zip and link beds split a king or super king mattress in half, the weight and size of each mattress are reduced, so rotating and flipping the mattresses is much simpler – this helps promote even wear and extend a mattress’s usable life.

The dual mattresses also provide additional internal support through their central walls, which can improve durability and resilience compared to single-piece king-size mattresses.

Enhanced delivery convenience

The delivery and installation of large king and super king mattresses can be challenging when accessing upstairs bedrooms or navigating tight staircases.

Zip and link beds solve this issue by separating into more portable, simple components to manoeuvre into position.

Once in the bedroom, the zip and link bed bases connect seamlessly, and the zipped mattresses create a unified sleeping surface, helping streamline delivery while still allowing for an expansive and luxurious bed.

No shortage of mattress options

Zip and link divan bases accommodate a nearly unlimited selection of mattress technologies and firmness levels. Mattress options include:

image1

  • Pocket spring: Pocket spring mattresses provide progressive support through hundreds or thousands of individual pocketed springs. You can choose soft, medium, medium-firm, or firm tensions paired to suit your comfort preferences for both sides of the bed.
  • Memory Foam: Memory foam mattresses contour closely to your body for pressure relief and motion isolation. Select soft or firm mattresses depending on your needs.
  • Hybrid: Hybrid mattresses have excellent responsiveness from the springs and conforming comfort layers up top. The dual construction promotes airflow to keep sleepers cool.
  • Latex: All-natural latex foam mattresses offer excellent pressure point relief, durability, breathability, and antimicrobial qualities.

When selecting two different mattresses for a zip and link bed, the only real factor to bear in mind is getting the thickness the same so that they sit flush in the middle.

Manchester United v Chelsea: Preview, expected line-ups, how to watch and prediction

The State of Play

Manchester United and Chelsea are used to viewing each other as Premier League title rivals, yet they enter Wednesday’s head-to-head clash at Old Trafford as the two biggest current underachievers in English football.

Hosts United – and their boss Erik ten Hag – are back under severe pressure following Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park, where the Magpies laid siege to their goal from the first whistle and finally found a way through via Anthony Gordon after the break.

That result leaves the Red Devils five points adrift of the top four and led club legend Gary Neville to say he was “bored” of watching them. Reports then emerged on Monday claiming a significant portion of United’s squad are not behind Ten Hag, which the Dutchman has angrily denied.

Chelsea have also endured a difficult 2023-24 season to date, but they are looking up after bouncing back from their own chastening defeat at Newcastle by beating Brighton and Hove Albion 3-2 on Sunday.

Enzo Fernandez’s first two Premier League goals – coupled with Levi Colwill’s close-range header – were enough for the Blues to edge an entertaining contest despite Conor Gallagher’s red card, moving them within five points of United.

Mauricio Pochettino – a long-term United target during his time with Tottenham – has seen his team earn 10 points from their last five league games after enduring a troubled start to his reign, and he should have a few key players returning to the fold ahead of Wednesday’s match.

The prospect of both United and Chelsea playing Champions League football next season appears extremely remote. On Wednesday, we may just find out which of these fallen giants has the best chance of doing so.

Team News

Both teams have had several selection issues to contend with lately, and United will again be without Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez for Wednesday’s match. Former Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is closing in on a return, but he will not be involved on Wednesday.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will have full-backs Reece James and Marc Cucurella back from suspension, though Gallagher faces a ban of his own after picking up two yellow cards against Brighton. Malo Gusto could also return, but Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka are out.

Pochettino said last week that Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku were both “close” to being available for their competitive debuts for the club, but neither made the squad for the Brighton win. On Tuesday, he confirmed this game will also come too soon for the pair.

Expected Line-ups

Manchester United: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Amrabat; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

Chelsea: Sanchez; James, Silva, Badiashile, Colwill; Caicedo, Fernandez; Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk; Jackson.

What they Said

Ten Hag on the mood in the United camp:

“Everyone is disappointed when you have the result at Galatasaray and then the performance and result in Newcastle, but if you go to Newcastle… we are not the only team who is losing there.

“I think in their home record, they won every game apart from Liverpool. Apart from that, everyone is losing there but we wanted to win there. We gave everything that was in our power but our performance definitely wasn’t good enough.”

On reports of unrest in the dressing room:

“I listen always to my players and I always give them opportunities. If the players have a different opinion, of course, I will listen. But they haven’t told me.

“The majority want to play like this; proactive, dynamic, brave. That is what they want. You can see the players are behind it because of the performances against Everton and Galatasaray, and we are improving.”

Pochettino on Chelsea’s win over Brighton:

“When you analyse that game you feel proud. The way we started the first half against a very good team, we tried to change our feelings after Newcastle. It was a very tough game for us, not only because it was Brighton.

“It’s about all being together, the desire to belong to the club, and this group of players is fighting together. If we feel like this we can evolve and develop in any type of way.”

When and How to Watch

The game kicks off at the later-than-usual time of 20:15 in the UK on Wednesday evening, and like the rest of the Premier League’s set of midweek fixtures, will be shown live by Amazon Prime in the UK.

Prediction

Across all competitions, five of the last six meetings between United and Chelsea have finished level, though the Red Devils did rout Frank Lampard’s Blues 4-1 in this exact fixture back in May.

However, United approach this clash in a much worse place, while Chelsea are beginning to welcome key players back and have produced a few promising attacking performances of late. The Blues remain fragile, though, so an entertaining 2-2 draw could be on the cards, further frustrating both teams’ attempts to climb the table.
