Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
Ederson claim
United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Atalanta star Ederson as one of their first deals of the summer transfer window.
Journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed that United and Atalanta have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ over a deal for Ederson, with a few details in the move left to be completed.
It has been reported that Ederson has given the green light to the transfer, with both clubs set to hold further talks to complete the deal.
MEN says: United have been linked with a move for Ederson for some time and it has got to the point where it would be a surprise if they did not try and sign the Brazilian this summer. It’s unclear what fee United could be forced to pay, but reports suggest that the Reds have been keen to sign the Atalanta star for a while.

Diomande update
United reportedly have an interest in RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, but will not press ahead with a deal due to the fee it would take to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Diomande’s future, explaining why United have taken the decision to not try and sign the Ivory Coast international.
“Man United are following the player, but have already informed people close to the player that they will not pay €100m (£86m) for Diomande because the main investments will be made in midfield,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.
“At the moment, spending more than €100m euros again at Leipzig after the Sesko deal in summer 2025 at the moment for United is considered too expensive. He is a player they really like but is considered too expensive.
MEN says: United are likely to want to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League, but it seems that Diomande will not be moving to Old Trafford. It remains to be seen if the Reds will look to sign a new winger when the transfer window opens, with a host of names expected to be linked over the next few weeks and months.
