Police appeal following assault of a woman in Manchester

Greater Manchester Police officers are appealing for additional information following a report of a serious assault on a woman in North Manchester.

The lady was walking on her own near the Shell Garage on Oldham Road in Manchester, between the hour of midnight and 2am on Saturday when she was approached by three unknown men and assaulted.

The injuries she sustained are believed not to be life-threatening.

Detective inspector Michelle Buchanan of GMP’s North Manchester CID said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation into this incident but would like to appeal to any witnesses in the early hours during this weekend that may have seen something strange or have access to any dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage we haven’t been able to obtain already to please check if they have recorded anything that could help us.

“The victim is being supported as this time but is understandably shaken by the incident which was unprovoked. We would like to commend her bravery in finding the courage to report this to us in confidence.

“Patrol plans are in place and our enquiries are continuing around the clock to identify the suspects and bring them into custody to answer for their actions which will not be tolerated.”

Anyone with details that will help officers with their enquiries is asked to call 0161 856 4116 or 101 quoting incident 303 of 25/11/2023. Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
