Graphic Designer’s NFT Sale Makes Him One of Wales’ Most Successful Artists

Ashley Crossland, a talented graphic designer hailing from Cardigan, Ceredigion, has experienced a remarkable surge in his artistic career following the extraordinary sale of his digital artwork collection, fetching a total of nearly £500,000 in the prominent cryptocurrency Cardano ADA. This astounding achievement has rapidly established him as one of Wales’ most commercially successful artists.

Demonstrating immense creativity, Crossland created a collection called Stag Alliance, featuring anthropomorphized deer, consisting of 7,500 unique digital artworks, each sold as an NFT (non-fungible token). Following the initial sale, which took place over two days in late March, individual pieces from the collection have been resold at prices reaching the equivalent of £6,500 in Cardano ADA.

The exponential rise of NFTs has captivated digital artists and collectors alike, and the overwhelming success of Crossland’s collection serves as a testament to the significant impact NFTs can have on the creative industry, marking a pivotal moment in the history of art.

“NFT technology is often misunderstood, but as our lives become increasingly immersed in the digital realm, the desire to own unique digital art is growing. It’s an exciting realm to create art and digital experiences in,” says Ashley Crossland, the artist and co-founder.

With a global following of passionate supporters eager to collect digital art and engage with captivating narratives, Crossland, alongside childhood friend Jameel Sandham, co-founder, aims to build a fantasy world called the Elderworld that can be enjoyed by millions. This immersive world will encompass art, literature, and interactive web experiences.

“We want to sustain this momentum and create a fantasy world that rivals the most renowned ones out there. The NFTs will grant collectors access to our interactive web experiences, making them more dynamic than physical art,” explains Jameel Sandham, author and co-founder.

NFTs, known as non-fungible tokens, function as unique ownership certificates for digital items, including artwork and collectibles. Utilising blockchain technology, NFTs ensure the distinctiveness and non-duplicability of these digital assets. They also enable creators to establish special rules, such as earning royalties from future sales, and provide artists with a means to monetise their work effectively.

Ashley Crossland’s exceptional NFT sale not only signifies his personal success but also highlights the burgeoning significance of digital art and NFTs in the contemporary art world. As this innovative medium continues to evolve, artists like Crossland are redefining the boundaries of artistic expression and paving the way for new opportunities in the digital realm.
