0

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging specialist Charge-M8 is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Tap Electric, a rapidly growing software provider that manages charging, access, and payment systems for EV charge points across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

This collaboration integrates Charge-M8’s commercial EV chargers into the Tap Electric platform, offering simple set-up and commissioning through free iOS and Android apps, as well as a web portal. This partnership ensures that Charge-M8’s installation partners and customers can benefit from some of the most advanced EV management technology available. Tap Electric’s system simplifies EV charge point management for both site owners and drivers, making operations seamless.

Explaining the choice to partner with Tap Electric, Charge-M8 CEO and Founder Julian Smith said: “Having launched our commercial EV charging range to installers across the UK and Ireland in Q1 this year, we wanted to add another hardware agnostic platform to our stable, and Tap Electric is fast growing and establishing themselves as a brand that professional installers know and trust.

“We wanted to partner with Tap Electric after meeting the team and learning that we share their vision of frictionless EV charger management and driver experience. We’ve been impressed with the speed of the integration and on-going development. Additionally, their streamlined business model adds a really compelling solution for cost-effective management for our customers. Our installation partners are already experiencing our combined Charge-M8 commercial range and Tap Electric software working seamlessly together.”

Tap Electric’s CCO and Co-Founder, Dan Pezim, commented: “Tap Electric are delighted to partner with Charge-M8 to offer our market-leading experience for their installation partner clients and customers. Our combined software and infrastructure solutions will mean site owners can manage their charge points at multiple locations on one intuitive platform. The Tap Electric platform is designed to eliminate the need to connect with multiple providers. This partnership allows Charge-M8 and its installer partners to integrate OCPP-compliant charge point brands with Charge-M8 models on the same site.

Iain Hughes, Technical Director at Charge-M8, added: “A critical factor in choosing Tap Electric was their on-going development of load management features. We’re currently working on a game-changing new development with the team at Tap Electric, and can’t wait to announce more about this exciting feature in the coming weeks.”

Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix results: ‘Stressed’ Piastri prevails ahead of Leclerc

Oscar Piastri said he had endured “probably the most stressful weekend of my life” as he crossed the finish line at the Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix to claim his second Formula One victory of the 2024 season.

Australian Piastri overtook Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who had taken pole for the fourth successive race in Baku, after their first pit stops and held him off to win by more than 10 seconds.

“After we stopped, I saw we were pretty close again,” said Piastri, who had never won a race before triumphing in Hungary on July 21.

“I felt like we had a little bit of extra grip and I had to go for it because knew that if I didn’t get past at the start of the stint that I was never going to get past.”

Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix: Piastri wins

“I went for a pretty big lunge and managed to pull it off and hang on for dear life for the next 35 laps,” added Piastri.

“The last couple of laps, when Leclerc dropped out of DRS, were a little bit more relaxing but there’s no such thing as a relaxing lap around here so it was hard work. That definitely goes down as one of my better races of my career.”

In a dramatic conclusion, Mercedes’ George Russell took third after Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Red Bull driver Sergio Perez crashed while battling for the position, with the safety car out on the final lap.

Lando Norris gave his title hopes a boost by finishing fourth for McLaren, while reigning world champion Max Verstappen came in a minute and 17 seconds behind Piastri in fifth and is now 59 points above Norris at the top of the standings.

Leclerc: Azerbaijan ‘lessons’

“It is enjoyable when you’ve got many opportunities on every lap,” said Leclerc. “Maybe McLaren had less downforce and in the straights they were very quick.

“In the corners, we were a bit quicker. I couldn’t get as close as I wanted and eventually we lost the race when I didn’t defend as well as I could have at the end of the straight.

“Sometimes you make mistakes and I’ll learn from it. McLaren and Oscar have done an exceptional job and done better than us.”

Leclerc is 19 points shy of Norris in third place in the championship, while Piastri is a further 13 behind.

Livingstone shines as England level T20 series with Australia

Liam Livingstone his 87 runs from 47 balls as England levelled their T20 series against Australia on Friday night.

The all-rounder marked his 50th T20 international in style, taking two wickets in the same match.

His run at the crease with the bat was spectacular. Livingstone hit six fours and five sixes to notch his second half-century in T20.

England relished the chase at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, with 194 the magic number to catch.

Jacob Bethell put on a strong partnership with Livingstone and had 44 runs himself, with Phil Salt also knocking 39 from 23 balls.

The win made Jordan Cox, Sam Curran and Brydon Carse’s poor innings with the bat irrelevant.

It means the series will go to a decider at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Speaking after the match, Livingston said: “Towards the end of The Hundred I felt I was getting my body back to normal, which is a thing that has bothered me the last couple of years.

“It has taught me a few life lessons but I am enjoying my cricket and playing with a smile on my face.”

Captain Salt added: “What Liam did was incredible, we all know he is capable of that.

“To see Bethell to come out to play the way he did, not just the skill but the way he paced it and took probably their best bowler down, I was really impressed.”

It was not a great night for Australia, although they still could have nicked the win with a bit more of an edge to their bowling.

Aussie captain Travis Head admits he may have made a few wrong decisions in the game but is not going to beat himself up about it.

He said: “We were right in the hunt and we were close.

“You go with your gut and your game plan, we’ll sit down but you play your best and sometimes it doesn’t come off.”

Transforming Your Holiday Resort: Strategies for Elevating Guest Experience and Revenue

0

In the competitive landscape of the hospitality industry, holiday resorts must constantly innovate to stay ahead. Improving your holiday resort is not just about attracting more guests; it’s about enhancing the overall experience, boosting revenue, and ensuring repeat visits. In this article, we’ll explore key strategies to elevate your resort’s appeal and profitability.

  1. Elevating Guest Experience: The Foundation of Success

The guest experience is at the heart of any successful holiday resort. Every interaction a guest has with your resort, from booking to check-out, should be seamless and memorable. Here are some actionable steps:

  • Personalized Service: Use guest data to tailor experiences. Whether it’s remembering a returning guest’s preferences or offering a personalized welcome package, these small touches can make a big difference.
  • Staff Training: Invest in comprehensive staff training programs. Employees who are well-trained in customer service can anticipate guest needs, resolve issues efficiently, and contribute to a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Amenities and Activities: Today’s guests expect more than just a place to sleep. Offer a variety of amenities and activities that cater to different interests and age groups. Consider incorporating wellness options like yoga classes, spa treatments, and fitness programs, as well as family-friendly activities like guided nature walks or arts and crafts sessions.
  1. Leverage Technology for a Modern Edge

Technology is reshaping the hospitality industry, and resorts that fail to adapt risk falling behind. Integrating the latest technology can improve both operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.

  • Smart Room Technology: Implementing smart room features, such as app-controlled lighting, climate control, and entertainment options, can enhance the guest experience. Guests appreciate the convenience of managing their environment with just a few taps on their smartphones.
  • Mobile Check-In/Check-Out: Streamline the arrival and departure process with mobile check-in/check-out options. This reduces wait times and allows guests to start their vacation immediately upon arrival.
  • Property Management Systems (PMS): A robust PMS can help you manage reservations, guest information, and billing more efficiently. It also provides valuable data insights that can guide marketing strategies and operational improvements.
  1. Sustainability: A Growing Priority

Sustainability is no longer a niche concern; it’s a mainstream expectation. Guests are increasingly looking for eco-friendly accommodations, and a commitment to sustainability can set your resort apart.

  • Energy Efficiency: Invest in energy-efficient appliances, LED lighting, and smart thermostats to reduce your resort’s carbon footprint. Solar panels and energy management systems can also contribute to long-term savings.
  • Waste Reduction: Implement waste reduction programs, such as recycling initiatives and composting. Encourage guests to participate by providing clear instructions and offering incentives for eco-friendly behaviour.
  • Local Sourcing: Support local farmers and artisans by sourcing food, beverages, and products locally. This not only reduces transportation emissions but also helps to boost the local economy.
  1. Marketing and Branding: Tell Your Story

Your resort’s brand is more than just a logo; it’s the story you tell your guests. Effective marketing and branding can differentiate your resort in a crowded market.

  • Social Media Presence: Maintain an active and engaging presence on social media platforms. Share high-quality photos and videos of your resort, highlight guest testimonials, and promote special offers. User-generated content, such as guest photos and reviews, can also enhance credibility and reach.
  • Content Marketing: Develop a content marketing strategy that includes blog posts, videos, and newsletters. Offer valuable information, such as travel tips, local attractions, and resort updates, to keep potential guests engaged.
  • Collaborations and Partnerships: Partner with local businesses, influencers, or travel bloggers to expand your reach. Collaborations can introduce your resort to new audiences and add credibility to your brand.

In conclusion, improving your holiday resort is an ongoing process that requires attention to detail, a commitment to excellence, and a willingness to innovate. By focusing on guest experience, leveraging technology, embracing sustainability, refining marketing efforts, and committing to continuous improvement, your resort can thrive in a competitive market. Manor & Ashbury Resorts exemplify how these strategies, when executed effectively, can lead to long-term success and guest loyalty.

Manchester United going ‘in good direction’, Ten Hag says despite results

0

Manchester United’s results show the club is going “in a good direction”, manager Erik ten Hag has said despite his side’s thrashing by Liverpool before the international break in their second consecutive defeat.

United’s only points in their first three games have come courtesy of Joshua Zirkzee’s 87th-minute winner in their home opener against Fulham, which was followed by a 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion and a 3-0 reverse at the hands of the Reds at Old Trafford on September 1.

“It doesn’t impact me,” Ten Hag said when he was asked whether he has been affected by renewed scrutiny over his position, pointing out that one of his critics, former United top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, is “far away from Manchester”

“I know in the process where we are, what we have to do, where we are going. We are still in a transition process, we have to integrate a lot of young players.”

Man United injuries

“We still have to deal with injuries and bring players back into the team,” added Ten Hag. “Before anyone thinks about excuses – no, we have to win every game.

“I know that. The team knows this. We will focus on every game and have in every game the mindset that we have to win.”

United’s top scorer last season, Rasmus Hojlund, and defender Luke Shaw are “progressing very well” in their returns from injuries but will not feature at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday (12.30pm BST), Ten Hag added.

Centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro, left-back Tyrell Malacia and midfielder Mason Mount remain out but captain Bruno Fernandes is likely to have recovered from a knock he sustained in Portugal’s Uefa Nations League home win over Scotland on Sunday.

Manchester United vs Southampton

Manuel Ugarte, who completed his move to United for an initial £42 million from Paris St-Germain on September 1, could be given his debut in United’s first match after fellow defensive midfielder Casemiro was substituted at half-time following crucial errors against Liverpool.

“When you see the scores, no-one is happy,” said Ten Hag, who was expected to be sacked after last season’s FA Cup final but signed a new contract during the summer.

“Players have a very good sense of the process, of the quality of the process. When you analyse all the games so far, we are in a good direction.

“But it is normal, in a transition period when you build a team, that you have to improve and step up.

“We have good characters. You feel the team spirit. Now it is about getting the patterns and routines in… so everyone sees the quality we have on the training pitch.”

AI and human collaboration in translation: Perspectives from Tomedes CEO Ofer Tirosh

0

The translation industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and human expertise.

This article explores the dynamic collaboration between AI and human translators, guided by insights from Ofer Tirosh, the CEO of Tomedes.

Tomedes, a global leader in translation services, emphasises the importance of balancing advanced AI tools with the nuanced skills of human translators to deliver high-quality translations.

The evolution of translation technology

Historical context of translation practices

Before the advent of AI, translation was a manual process, heavily reliant on the linguistic prowess of human translators. The earliest forms of translation date back to ancient civilisations, where scholars translated religious texts and classical literature. The 20th century saw the rise of professional translation services, characterised by meticulous, time-consuming efforts to ensure accuracy and cultural relevance.

Emergence and impact of AI on the translation industry

The introduction of AI into the translation industry marked a paradigm shift. Early AI translation tools, such as rule-based and statistical machine translation systems, paved the way for more sophisticated neural machine translation (NMT) models. These advancements have significantly improved translation speed and accuracy. For instance, Google Translate, which launched in 2006, now supports over 100 languages and processes more than 100 billion words daily.

Key milestones in AI translation technology development

Key milestones in AI translation include the development of IBM’s Candide system in the 1990s, the launch of Google Neural Machine Translation (GNMT) in 2016, and the recent breakthroughs in AI language models like Open GPT-3. These technologies have revolutionised the way translations are performed, making real-time, high-accuracy translations a reality.

Ofer Tirosh’s perspective on AI and human collaboration

Ofer Tirosh, with over two decades of experience in the translation industry, has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of AI. Under his leadership, Tomedes has embraced AI to enhance its service offerings while maintaining a strong emphasis on human expertise.

Insights on the strengths and future potential of AI

Translation tools

Ofer Tirosh acknowledges the impressive capabilities of AI translation tools, emphasizing that they represent the future of translation. These tools excel in handling large volumes of text quickly and can provide instant translations for simple and repetitive content.

Tirosh highlights that while AI tools are incredibly efficient, there is an ongoing opportunity to improve further their understanding of context, cultural nuances, and idiomatic expressions. This continuous enhancement is something he strongly recommends, as it will ensure even higher-quality translations.

He firmly believes that AI translation is not only how translations are done today
but also the way forward for the industry.

Necessity of human translators in maintaining quality and nuance

According to Tirosh, human translators are indispensable for maintaining the quality and nuance of translations. They bring cultural insight, contextual understanding, and the ability to adapt translations to the target audience, aspects that AI currently cannot replicate.

Tirosh emphasises a hybrid approach, where AI handles the initial translation, and human translators refine and polish the final output.

Successful integration of AI and human expertise at Tomedes

Tomedes has successfully integrated AI and human expertise through innovative platforms such as MachineTranslation.com, AITranslator.com, and LegalTranslations.com. These platforms utilise AI to deliver fast and accurate translations, which can then be further improved by professionals.

The Human Review option is available to users, guaranteeing that translations
achieve the highest quality standards when selected.

Future of translation: Integrating AI and human skills

Predictions for the future of the translation industry

Tirosh envisions a future where AI and human translators work in harmony to deliver superior translations. He predicts that AI will continue to evolve, offering even greater accuracy and efficiency, but human translators will remain vital for handling complex, nuanced texts.

Tomedes’ plans to evolve with advancing AI technologies

Tomedes plans to stay at the forefront of technological advancements by continuously
integrating cutting-edge AI tools into its workflow. The company is committed to ongoing training for their translators to ensure they can effectively collaborate with AI.

Balancing AI automation and human oversight

Maintaining a balance between AI automation and human oversight is important. Tomedes employs a robust quality control process, where human translators review AI-generated translations to ensure they meet the company’s high standards.

Ethical considerations in AI and human translation

Concerns about AI replacing human jobs

One of the primary ethical concerns is the potential for AI to replace human jobs. Tirosh believes that while AI will change the nature of translation work, it will not eliminate the need for human translators. Instead, it will create new opportunities for translators to focus on more complex and creative tasks.

Ethical implications of relying solely on AI

Relying solely on AI for translations can lead to ethical issues, such as the spread of
misinformation due to inaccuracies. Tomedes ensures that human translators are always involved in the translation process to mitigate these risks.

Ensuring ethical practices at Tomedes

Tomedes is committed to ethical practices by promoting transparency, quality, and cultural sensitivity in their translation services. They prioritise fair wages and continuous professional development for their translators.

Ofer Tirosh’s advice for businesses and translators

Recommendations for businesses

Tirosh advises businesses to leverage AI for routine translations while relying on human translators for critical, high-stakes projects. This approach ensures both efficiency and quality.

Tips for translators adapting to AI integration

For translators, Tirosh recommends embracing AI as a tool to enhance their work. He suggests staying updated on the latest AI advancements and continuously improving their skills to remain competitive.

Staying competitive in an evolving industry

Translators should focus on developing expertise in specialized fields, such as legal or medical translation, where human insight is invaluable. Networking and continuous learning are also key to staying competitive.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the collaboration between AI and human translators represents the future of the translation industry. Ofer Tirosh’s insights highlight the strengths and potential of AI, emphasising the irreplaceable value of human expertise. As AI continues to advance, the translation industry must adapt, ensuring a balance between technological innovation and human touch. This ongoing dialogue and innovation will drive the industry forward, providing high-quality translations that bridge language barriers effectively.

By combining the strengths of AI and human expertise, Tomedes continues to set the standard for quality in the translation industry.
