Police seize £215,000 of counterfeit clothes in Manchester

Counterfeit clothing worth more than £200,000 was found during a morning warrant in Manchester.

Officers from Cheetham Hill and GMP’s Challenger team conducted the warrant in Park Place with support from the specialist Operation Vulcan team.

Officers found multiple boxes of clothes and footwear, with a street value of approximately £215,000. The items were seized and will be repurposed or destroyed where appropriate.

No arrests were made during the warrant but significant intelligence was gained as local officers utilise skills obtained due to Vulcan’s success in tackling counterfeit items in the area.

Inspector Antonia Jackson said: “Investigating and tackling criminality in our communities is a fundamental part of neighbourhood policing and we will utilise all of the resources available as we go about this.

“Operation Vulcan has been active in this area for a number of months now and given the nature of the finds, we worked closely with the Vulcan team to assess the items and plan out steps going forward.

“As a neighbourhood team, we work hard to tackle all types of crime – from ASB issues and drug dealers to off-road bikes and, in this case, counterfeit clothing.”

“If you have any information about crime in your area, please do get in touch with us. You can do this by reporting it online, via 101, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
