Resilience Training: Helping Employees Handle a Stressful Work Environment

People experience different stress levels in the workplace depending on the industry they work in and their positions. The natural response to these stressful situations is to resolve them as fast as possible so they stop making us uncomfortable. Instead of reacting to stress like this, what if individuals could be proactive and have the ability and skills to prepare for what comes next?

This is resilience, and those who have built this skill can manage stress much better than those who have not. Resilience training can be crucial for employees who work in stressful environments and who have to deal with high-pressure situations, tight deadlines, and demanding expectations. Here are some reasons why resilience training can make them better at dealing with these situations.

It Helps With Stress Management

Resilience training arms employees with effective tools and coping strategies that can help them manage their stress. Employees who use these tools can identify and then address stressors using different coping mechanisms. Doing so prevents stress from becoming overwhelming and impacting not only their performance but their well-being, too.

Additionally, an employee’s threshold for stress increases once they have undergone resilience training. This means they can take on or handle more stress because they have the tools and coping strategies that help them do this.

Resilience Training Helps With Adaptability

Being adaptable to change is a crucial part of learning to deal with different stressors. Understandably, change is inevitable in fast-paced work environments. This could be changes in team dynamics, company strategies, management structures, responsibilities, roles, and tasks.

Resilient employees can embrace these and other changes more readily. Learning to adapt their mindset after undergoing resilience training from Acuity Training, for example, helps minimise the impact of the disruptions changes cause and helps employees maintain productivity even in such highly-stressful environments.

Resilience Training Builds Confidence and Belief

Among other things, dealing with highly stressful situations depends on how confident a person is that they can do it. Resilience training can make employees more confident and increase their belief in their abilities.

Individuals with high self-confidence and belief in their abilities are more likely to deal with problems head-on and persist in their efforts despite the opposition, setbacks, and stress they face.

It Reduces Burnout and Absenteeism

The chronic stress and exhaustion employees face in highly stressful work environments can lead to burnout. Employees experiencing burnout are more likely to be less productive than their counterparts. Additionally, they are less likely to be able to deal with the stressful environment on top of everything else they are going through.

Resilience training decreases the likelihood of burnout, giving individuals opportunities to deal with the stress they face in their workplaces. Lower levels of burnout reduce absenteeism and lead to higher job satisfaction, itself a factor in determining how stressed an employee is at work.

Resilience training can produce excellent results by helping employees learn how to deal with stressful work environments. It can improve productivity, help employees deal better with their emotions, and help with their overall well-being
