Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen surprises pupils at Old Trafford school

0

Christian Eriksen made a surprise visit to Manchester United Foundation’s partner primary school, St Alphonsus – much to the delight of pupils.

The Danish midfielder was welcomed by headteacher Tina Birds before visiting a number of classes during the exciting morning.

He sat down with Year 5 students to listen to their reading and helped choose their next books, before taking part in ‘Goalball’ – an inclusive sport designed for those with a visual impairment.

Later on, he showed off his skills with Year 6 and Foundation coaches throwing dodgeballs and knocking down hula-hoops as pupils enjoyed activities in line with the Premier League Primary Stars programme, which is delivered across all 28 of the Foundation’s partner primary schools.

Christian said: “It’s amazing to be at the school and see all the kids and what they’ve been doing with the Foundation. The children and their parents come to the stadium and watch games, they give encouragement to us on the pitch, so by coming into the local community and meeting the children, it’s a really nice thing to do. It’s very important for me to give back as a Manchester United player – I’m very pleased to be here.”

Ms Birds said: “It has been a wonderful day. Seeing the children’s reactions to Christian Eriksen walking through, participating in the activities that Manchester United Foundation were doing – it was absolutely amazing. I will remember it for a long, long time.

“Working with the Foundation and the Premier League Primary Stars programme is all about bringing communities together and it’s so important for my school that we are part of this community. Working with the Foundation and seeing Christian Eriksen today, it gives the pupils that aspiration that we really instill in school, and that’s what this programme does brilliantly.”

St Alphonsus pupil Siver said: “I felt starstruck, shocked, happy, because he’s a footballer and I like Manchester United; I could never have imagined that. I think it’s important because many people look up to him and everyone admires him.”

Throughout the season, the Foundation will continue its work in partnership with local primary schools aiming to develop and improve the wellbeing and life skills of children aged 5-11.

The feature was filmed for BBC Match of the Day and aired on New Year’s Eve on its morning repeat show.

The art of creative graphics in construction and events

In construction and event management, the visual appeal holds the key to capturing audience attention. The use of creative graphics isn’t just a trend; it’s an essential strategy that intertwines the realms of practicality and aesthetics. This article delves into how innovative graphic solutions, like shell scheme graphics, foamex boards, and hoarding construction, are transforming these industries.

The evolution of construction graphics: A timeline perspective

How did hoarding construction graphics change the landscape of urban development?

  • Early days: Initially, construction sites were mere functional spaces, focused solely on the building process. Hoardings, if used, were plain and purely practical.
  • The shift: Gradually, the perception of these spaces began to evolve. The introduction of hoarding construction graphics marked a significant shift. It was no longer about hiding the mess; it was about making a statement.
  • Present trends: Today, these hoardings are vibrant displays, often showcasing artistic renditions of the project or promoting commercial ventures. They have become a canvas for creativity, transforming mundane construction sites into visual landmarks.
  • Impact on public perception: This transformation has altered how the public interacts with construction spaces. No longer eyesores, these sites contribute to the urban aesthetic, often becoming points of interest in the community.

2. Shell scheme graphics: The art of maximising impact in minimal spaces

What are the dos and don’ts when designing shell scheme graphics for maximum effect?

  • Do: Customise to Fit Brand Identity. Each shell scheme graphic should be a reflection of the brand’s ethos. Tailoring graphics to align with brand colours, logos, and messages ensures a consistent and impactful brand presence.
  • Don’t: Overcrowd the Space. In the limited space of a shell scheme, less is often more. Overloading the area with too much information can be overwhelming and counterproductive.
  • Do: Consider Audience Engagement. Interactive elements, like QR codes or touch-sensitive screens, can significantly enhance visitor engagement.
  • Don’t: Ignore Lighting and Placement. Poorly lit or improperly placed graphics can diminish their impact, regardless of how well-designed they are.

3. Foamex boards: A deep dive into their versatility and applications

Foamex boards are not just another graphic medium; they are a cornerstone in both construction and event landscapes due to their versatility. Let’s explore their various applications:

  • Construction sites: Used for wayfinding and safety signs, foamex board offers a durable and clear solution to guide and inform workers and visitors.
  • Event backdrops: They provide an ideal backdrop for event stages or exhibition stands, offering high-quality print capability for vivid imagery and branding.
  • Retail displays: In the retail sector, foamex boards are used for in-store promotions and window displays, capitalising on their lightweight and easy-to-customise nature.
  • Art installations: Surprisingly, foamex boards have also found a place in the art world, being used for temporary installations and exhibits due to their ease of shaping and painting.

4. Embracing eco-friendly practices in graphic design

In an era where sustainability is not just a buzzword but a necessity, how are eco-friendly practices being incorporated into graphic design in construction and events?

  • Sustainable materials: The shift towards using recyclable materials like eco-friendly foamex boards is notable. These materials offer the same versatility and durability but with a reduced environmental footprint.
  • Digital alternatives: Reducing waste through digital displays is another sustainable practice. Digital hoardings and electronic displays at events can significantly cut down on material usage.
  • Energy efficiency: Using LED lighting for illuminated graphics, both in construction hoardings and event displays, contributes to energy efficiency, reducing the overall carbon footprint.

5. Interactive and digital innovations in construction and event graphics

What does the future hold for interactive and digital innovations in these fields?

  • Augmented Reality (AR) in Hoardings: Imagine walking past a construction site and seeing the future building come to life through your smartphone. AR integrated into hoarding construction graphics is set to transforming how we view and interact with construction sites.
  • Digital engagement in shell scheme graphics: Incorporating digital elements like touchscreens and interactive content in shell scheme graphics can transform passive viewers into active participants at events.
  • Smart foamex boards: The future might see foamex boards equipped with sensors and interactive elements, making them not just a visual tool but an interactive experience for viewers.

The role of graphic design in brand storytelling

How do graphics in construction and events contribute to brand storytelling?

  • Narrative through visuals: Each graphic element, be it a hoarding or a shell scheme, tells a part of the brand’s story. The visual design conveys messages about the brand’s values, vision, and mission.
  • Emotional connection: Well-designed graphics can evoke emotions and create lasting impressions, thereby strengthening the brand’s connection with its audience.
  • Consistency across platforms: Maintaining a consistent visual theme across various platforms, including construction and event graphics, solidifies brand recognition and loyalty.

Wrapping up

The incorporation of creative graphics in construction and events represents more than just an aesthetic upgrade; it’s a strategic approach that enhances brand visibility, engages audiences, and supports sustainable practices. As we move forward, the fusion of technology and creativity will continue to redefine these spaces, making them not just functional but visually captivating.

Mellifex: Revolutionizing Financial Security in the Crypto Space

In an era where digital currency transactions are becoming increasingly commonplace, Mellifex, a UK-based LLP, emerges as a pivotal force in ensuring financial security. Co-founded by Matias Monteagudo, Lev Mikulitski, and Fred Meyer, Mellifex introduces a groundbreaking non-custodial escrow infrastructure for payments in USDC and other ERC-20 tokens, thereby redefining safety in the volatile world of cryptocurrency.

The realm of cryptocurrency, while offering unprecedented opportunities, also brings inherent risks, particularly counterparty risk. This risk becomes evident when users engage in transactions without adequate security measures, leading to potential losses and unfulfilled agreements.

Mellifex addresses these challenges head-on by providing a non-custodial escrow self-service infrastructure. This innovative approach means users retain control over their funds without relying on a third party. The process is straightforward: users connect their wallet, fill out a simple form with transaction details, sign, et voilà – the escrow is set.

What sets Mellifex apart is its user-friendly interface combined with robust security protocols. Even in the unlikely event of Mellifex LLP ceasing operations, users’ signatory wallets remain capable of interacting with the dedicated smart contracts, ensuring uninterrupted access to funds. This autonomy over funds aligns with Mellifex’s motto: “Upwardly Mobile”.

Mellifex’s versatility extends to various sectors, including art, law, and property, securing high-value transactions until pre-set conditions are met. The platform has developed advanced solutions for claims under $10,000, such as timelock or milestone payments. For larger disputes, Mellifex collaborates with the Blockchain Arbitration & Commerce Society (BACS) to ensure fair and prompt resolution at the parties’ request.

The creators of Mellifex have considered an essential layer in this ecosystem: the professional services provider who needs to engage in a client transaction immediately. For them, integrating third-party crypto payment rails often isn’t a viable option. This is precisely where Mellifex comes into play. With Mellifex, there’s no need for any integration, which is a significant advantage, especially for those who aren’t developers. While someone might still be navigating the complexities of competitors’ systems, with Mellifex, they could have already completed thousands of payments. Additionally, it’s crucial to understand that non-custodial escrow with Mellifex isn’t limited to peer-to-peer transactions. Mellifex offers the option of involving intermediaries who can assist the parties and request a fee, thus seamlessly accommodating any existing business model.

Looking ahead, Mellifex aims to forge partnerships with forward-thinking banks and financial institutions. By leveraging Mellifex’s technology, these entities can tap into the burgeoning crypto transaction market, offering high-end secure services to their clients. This approach essentially expands their value offering and grows their existing business.

Mellifex is committed to continuous innovation in the non-custodial space. Its goal is to set a new technological standard for financial entities, ensuring that digital currency transactions are secure and user-friendly.

Demonstrating its authoritative stance, Mellifex has engaged in the European Supervisory Authority Discussion paper on DORA. This involvement underscores Mellifex’s commitment to shaping the future of digital operational resilience in the financial sector.

Mellifex stands at the forefront of transforming the crypto transaction landscape. By prioritizing user control and security, it offers a beacon of reliability in the digital currency world. With its innovative approach and strategic partnerships, Mellifex is poised to become a key player in the financial technology sector, offering solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the digital economy.

Royal Innovative: “Russia’s support for good agricultural practices will expand agricultural trade between Türkiye and Russia”

Stating that they expect new moves from Russia, which raised quotas in tomato exports, Boris Volfman, Founder of Royal Innovative, told that their business volume in agricultural product exports to Russia grew by 80% in the first 10 months of 2023, and they expect it to grow even more next year.

Royal Innovative, mediating agricultural product exports from Türkiye to Russia, announced an 80% increase in business volume in the first 10 months of 2023. Stating that Russia imports the most fresh fruits and vegetables from Türkiye, Boris Volfman, Founder of Royal Innovative said,

“While Türkiye’s total exports hovered just above 210 billion dollars in the first 10 months of 2023, agricultural exports amounted to 28.5 billion dollars. Russia, ranking 6th among the countries Türkiye exports to with a volume of 8 billion dollars, also holds an important position in agricultural exports. At the forefront of agricultural products exported from Türkiye to Russia are fresh fruits and vegetables.”

“We act as a bridge between Turkish agriculture and Russia. Among the vegetables we mediate in exporting is tomatoes. Russia’s decision to increase quotas in tomato exports in July pleased Turkish producers. This situation, positively reflected in foreign trade data, was perceived as Russia supporting good agricultural practices in Türkiye and received appreciation,” he added.

“Agricultural trade between Russia and Türkiye will grow”

Highlighting their expectation of growth in agricultural exports between the two countries by the end of 2024, Boris Volfman, Founder of Royal Innovative said, “Tomatoes rank the first in Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports. In the first 10 months of the year, Türkiye exported 422 million dollars worth of tomatoes. This represents a 16% increase compared to the same period last year, largely influenced by Russia’s quota decision. We hope the upward trend in tomatoes will spread to other fresh fruits and vegetables as well. Because, like tomatoes, we expect moves in different products from Russia.”

Referring to the Medium-Term Program prepared by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, which sets the country’s export target at 302.2 billion dollars by the end of 2026, Boris Volfman said, “As stakeholders in Türkiye’s agricultural sector, we will work to increase the share of agriculture in the targeted exports by fulfilling our responsibilities. As always, from locating farmers to quality control, product selection to price negotiation, packaging to logistics, we will be at the service of Turkish producers seeking new markets and Russia for agricultural product needs. Türkiye will continue to be Russia’s largest agricultural partner, thanks to its climate, geographical location, product variety, and close relations.”

Highlighting the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables in Türkiye’s agricultural exports and Russia being the top country in this area, Boris Volfman, Founder of Royal Innovative concluded:

“We also mediate in delivering agricultural products grown all over Türkiye to Russia. Among the export products that vary according to the season are, for example, tomatoes, grapefruits, peaches, plums, pomegranates, avocados, carrots, oranges, persimmons, sweet peppers.”

What does an order management system do?

0

Order management is a critical part of running any business. Unfortunately, manual order processing has some significant challenges that affect efficiency and overall business performance. For instance, the traditional way of processing orders consumes a lot of time and is prone to errors. Additionally, it makes it challenging to track and manage inventory levels in real-time. That is why automation through order management systems has become an invaluable tool for modern businesses looking to scale up sales.

What is an order management system?

An order management system (OMS) is a platform that helps businesses organise and automate critical parts of the buying process. Think of it as a smart assistant for your business, tasked with tracking every order received and ensuring the product reaches the customer on time.

Its primary purpose is to ensure that when a customer places an order, the item is in stock and that the purchasing process starts as soon as possible.

Order management systems create a single, centralised system for managing customer orders. By doing so, it simplifies the purchase process for both the customer and the business, increasing efficiency and customer satisfaction.

There are different types of order management systems available in the market today. The choice of the right type will often depend on various factors, such as the size of the business, the complexity of operations and specific needs related to order management. Some examples of common OMSs include the bundled OMS, supply chain OMS and enterprise OMS.

If you run a small business, a bundle OMS will work best for you because it offers a more comprehensive solution by ‘bundling’ all the functionalities into a single cohesive platform. Larger businesses, on the other hand, will do well with an enterprise order management system. This type of OMS is best for larger enterprises because it allows you to integrate order management with other business functions, ensuring a comprehensive solution for large and growing businesses.

Why is an order management system important?

Increased efficiency

One of the main benefits of implementing an order management system is increased efficiency. These systems enhance operational efficiency in various ways, including automating manual tasks, streamlining workflows and providing real-time order tracking.

It all comes down to leveraging technology to reduce errors (common with manual order management) and optimising processes.

Enhanced inventory management

Besides increasing efficiency, order management systems also enhance inventory management. They offer real-time inventory visibility, allowing you to accurately track product availability for better decision-making with regard to restocking your shelves.

It also creates a centralised system for inventory control, which proves helpful for businesses with multiple sales channels. That minimises discrepancies, leading to efficient operations and improved ability to meet customer demands.

Improved customer experience

Last but not least, implementing an order management system can help enhance the customer experience. The system does this in various ways, including providing the customer with a clear update/status of their placed orders. With such a system in place, the customer will know details such as estimated time of arrival, which helps instill confidence in the shipment and delivery process.

Discovering the latest in soundproofing for urban homes

In the hustle and bustle of city life, the quest for tranquillity within one’s own home has become more relevant than ever. Urban dwellers are increasingly seeking effective ways to insulate their living spaces from the constant hum of city noise.

This article explores the forefront of soundproofing technologies, specifically focusing on innovations like acoustic glazing and soundproof windows, designed to offer peaceful havens in the heart of the urban jungle.

The rise of urban noise and its impact

How does urban noise affect our daily lives? It’s a question many city dwellers might not ponder regularly, yet its impact is profound. Urban areas, with their dense traffic, ongoing construction, and bustling crowds, create a symphony of sounds that can be exhilarating but also overwhelming.

This incessant noise pollution has been linked to various health issues, including stress, sleep disturbances, and even cardiovascular problems. In-depth studies suggest that prolonged exposure to high noise levels can significantly diminish one’s quality of life. Hence, the demand for effective soundproofing solutions in urban homes is not just a matter of comfort but a crucial aspect of health and well-being.

Innovations in soundproofing: Beyond the basics

Gone are the days when thick walls and heavier curtains were the only solutions. Today, the market offers a plethora of options, each tailored to different needs and environments.

1. Materials matter: The choice of materials plays a pivotal role. New-age sound-absorbing materials like acoustic foam and sound-insulating drywall are Transforming the way we approach interior soundproofing.

2. Technological integration: Smart home technologies now include soundproofing options. Programmable devices can help manage and mitigate noise levels, offering a more dynamic approach to urban living.

3. Customisation is key: Personalisation of soundproofing solutions to fit specific environments is a growing trend. From bespoke sound panels to tailor-made window solutions, the focus is on adapting to the unique architectural characteristics of each urban home.

Acoustic glazing: A silent revolution

Acoustic glazing is not just another buzzword; it’s a game-changer in urban soundproofing. But what exactly is it?

  • Definition: Acoustic glazing involves using special glass compositions and window designs to significantly reduce the amount of external noise entering a room.
  • How it works: This technology uses multiple layers of glass, often with varying thicknesses, and sometimes includes a laminated layer that acts as a barrier to sound waves.
  • Benefits: The advantages of acoustic glazing are manifold. It reduces noise pollution effectively while also offering thermal insulation, which can lead to energy savings.
  • Installation considerations: When considering acoustic glazing, it’s vital to assess the existing window frames and ensure they are suitable for the new glazing. Professional installation is recommended for optimal results.

Soundproof windows: Your barrier against the bustle

When we talk about soundproof windows, we’re delving into a solution that’s as practical as it is ingenious. But what makes these windows different from your standard panes?

  1. Structure and design: Soundproof windows typically feature double or triple glazing, with the space between the panes filled with inert gas, adding an extra layer of sound insulation.
  2. Sealing techniques: It’s not just the glass that matters; the sealing of these windows is equally crucial. Advanced sealing techniques ensure that gaps are minimised, preventing sound leaks.
  3. Versatility: These windows come in various styles and designs, making them suitable for different types of homes and architectural aesthetics.

The installation of soundproof windows is a decision that goes beyond mere aesthetic value. It’s about reclaiming peace and quiet in your own home.

Integrating soundproofing with urban aesthetics

Can soundproofing be stylish? Absolutely. Integrating soundproofing solutions with urban home aesthetics is not only feasible but can also enhance the overall look and feel of your living space.

  • Interior design harmony: Choose soundproofing options that complement your home’s interior design. For instance, acoustic glazing in sleek, modern frames can add to a contemporary look, while traditional window styles with soundproof windows can preserve the charm of classic homes.
  • Creative solutions: Soundproofing doesn’t have to be hidden. Use it as a feature. Decorative acoustic panels, for example, can double as art pieces.
  • Multi-functional spaces: In smaller urban homes, space is at a premium. Soundproofing solutions can also serve as room dividers, creating quiet, multi-functional areas within an open-plan setting.

The cost-benefit analysis of soundproofing

Is soundproofing a worthy investment? Let’s break it down:

  • Upfront costs vs. long-term benefits: While the initial investment in soundproofing, especially in technologies like soundproof windows and acoustic glazing, can be significant, the long-term benefits – such as improved quality of life and potential energy savings – make it a worthwhile investment.
  • Increased property value: Homes with high-quality soundproofing often have a higher market value, an important consideration in urban areas where noise pollution is a common concern.

Conclusion

Innovations like acoustic glazing and soundproof windows are not just luxury additions but essential elements in crafting a peaceful urban abode. As these technologies continue to evolve, they offer a beacon of hope for those yearning for a quiet sanctuary amidst the urban chaos. As we move forward, the integration of such innovative solutions in urban homes is not just desirable but imperative for a serene living experience.
