Behind the Scenes: How Online Games Are Developed

0

Online slot games have become a staple in the world of online gambling, captivating players with their immersive themes, stunning graphics, and innovative features. However, what many players may not realize is the intricate process involved in developing these games. From concept and design to programming and testing, creating a successful slot game requires a combination of creativity, technical expertise, and attention to detail. In this article, we’ll take a behind-the-scenes look at the development process of online slot games, shedding light on the various stages involved and the key factors that contribute to a game’s success.

Conceptualization and Theme Selection

The development process typically begins with conceptualization, where game developers brainstorm ideas for new slot gacor games and select themes that will resonate with players. Themes can range from ancient civilizations and mythology to pop culture references and blockbuster movies. The goal is to create a game concept that is visually appealing, engaging, and aligned with current trends in the gaming industry. Once a theme is selected, the development team will flesh out the concept, outlining the game’s storyline, symbols, characters, and special features. This phase often involves collaboration between artists, designers, and writers to create a cohesive vision for the game.

Art and Design

Art and design play a crucial role in the development of online slot games, as they determine the visual aesthetic and overall look and feel of the game. Talented artists and graphic designers work together to create high-quality graphics, animations, and visual effects that bring the game to life. During this stage, artists create concept art for the game’s symbols, backgrounds, and animations, which are then refined and polished to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and visual appeal. Designers also work on the layout and user interface of the game, ensuring that it is intuitive and easy to navigate for players.

Programming and Development

Once the art and design elements are finalized, the development team begins the process of programming and coding the game. This involves writing the underlying software that powers the game’s mechanics, including the random number generator (RNG), paytable calculations, and bonus features. Programmers use specialized software and coding languages such as HTML5, JavaScript, and C++ to create the game’s functionality and ensure that it runs smoothly across different platforms and devices. They also integrate audio and visual assets into the game, synchronizing sound effects and animations to enhance the player experience.

Testing and Quality Assurance

Testing and quality assurance are critical steps in the development process to ensure that the game functions as intended and meets the highest standards of quality and performance. Testers rigorously evaluate the game for bugs, glitches, and errors, identifying any issues that need to be addressed before the game is released to the public. During testing, the game is subjected to various scenarios and conditions to simulate real-world gameplay. Testers also assess the game’s compatibility with different devices and screen sizes, ensuring that it provides a seamless experience across desktop, mobile, and tablet platforms.

Regulatory Compliance and Certification

Before a slot game can be released to the public, it must undergo regulatory compliance checks and obtain certification from relevant authorities. This ensures that the game meets legal requirements and adheres to industry standards for fairness and transparency. Regulatory compliance involves verifying that the game’s RNG is truly random and unbiased, and that the game’s return-to-player (RTP) percentage is within acceptable limits. Certification agencies such as eCOGRA and iTech Labs conduct independent audits and tests to verify the integrity and fairness of the game, providing players with assurance that they are playing in a safe and secure environment.

Launch and Post-Launch Support

Once the game has passed all regulatory checks and obtained certification, it is ready to be launched to the public. Online casinos may promote the game through various channels, including social media, email marketing, and advertising campaigns, to attract players and generate excitement around the new release. After the game is launched, the development team continues to provide ongoing support and maintenance, monitoring player feedback and addressing any issues that arise post-launch. This may involve releasing software updates and patches to fix bugs, optimize performance, and introduce new features based on player feedback and market trends.

Conclusion

The development of online slot games is a complex and multifaceted process that requires collaboration between artists, designers, programmers, and testers. From conceptualization and theme selection to programming and quality assurance, every stage of the development process is crucial to creating a successful and engaging game. By understanding the intricacies of game development, players can gain a greater appreciation for the creativity, skill, and attention to detail that goes into creating their favorite slot games. Ultimately, it is the dedication and passion of the development team that brings these games to life and provides players with hours of entertainment and excitement in the world of online gambling.

A beginner’s guide to investing in multi-asset funds

0

Multi-asset funds are useful tools for investors wanting a relatively simple way to put together a well-diversified portfolio.

These products will invest in a number of asset classes, such as equities and fixed income, rather than focusing on just one. This gives their managers much greater flexibility to select the most effective holdings to meet their overall investment objectives.

But what are the pros and cons of these funds and how do they work? Our guide to multi-asset investing reveals what you need to know.

What are multi-asset funds?

They are portfolios that can invest in a wider variety of asset classes. These will often include equities, fixed income, property and some alternatives. The idea of multi-asset funds is to generate diversification. This approach can help reduce the risk taken as you’re not so reliant on one area performing.

The hope is that losses suffered in one area will be counterbalanced by gains made
elsewhere. If equities have taken a tumble, for example, then hopefully fixed income is performing well.

However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the success – or otherwise – of these funds will be
determined by the skills of the managers at the helm.

Pros and cons

As with every investment, there are pros and cons when it comes to multi-asset strategies. The harsh reality is that no one fund is a guaranteed route to riches.

Potential upsides
● Greater flexibility to meet specific objectives
● An increased number of possible holdings
● Less risk than pinning all your hopes on one asset class
Possible risks
● Multi-asset funds will be run in different ways
● No guarantee that all managers will be successful
● Will the investment strategy meet your needs?

DIY approach to multi-asset investing

Of course, you can pursue a multi-asset strategy without taking a one-stop-shop approach focusing on a single fund. This would involve building your own overall portfolio by selecting various equity, fixed income and property funds, as well as some alternative investments.

The upside is that you get to choose the fund managers in each area. However, the downside is that this will require more research.

Multi-manager alternatives

Another alternative to a straightforward multi-asset fund are multi-manager portfolios, which invest in other funds, as opposed to individual assets. One of the main attractions of multi-manager is the increased diversification on offer, as each fund held will have invested in a number of assets.

However, you will still need to pay close attention to its objectives and holdings, as well as bearing in mind that these funds are usually more expensive.

Where can you find multi-asset funds?

The good news is there’s no shortage of multi-asset funds available – and a great place to start are the various IA Mixed Investment sectors. There are four such sectors, with each dictating the minimum – and maximum – equity investments that funds must have to qualify for inclusion. They are: IA Mixed 2 Investment 0-35% shares, IA Mixed Investment 20-60% shares, IA Mixed Investment 40-85% shares, and IA Flexible, which has no restrictions.

IA Mixed Investment 40-85% is currently the most popular, with UK investors having committed £88.4bn, according to recent data.

How to choose a multi-asset fund

So, how do you select a multi-asset fund? Well, the golden rule for choosing such a portfolio is the same as for any investment: do your homework. You need to be clear on your overall objectives and attitude to risk as these will govern the type of investments you can consider.

For example, if you’re opting for a fund in one of the IA Mixed Investment sectors, you’ll need to decide how much exposure you want to equities. In addition, the type – and number – of assets held by funds will vary enormously.

Therefore, you must carry out research on any funds that catch your eye. Here we highlight three multi-asset funds that may be worth a look.

BNY Mellon Multi-Asset Income

The aim of this fund is to achieve a stable income, with the potential for capital growth, over the longer term. This is an unconstrained and flexible multi-asset vehicle that benefits from tapping into Newton’s huge resources. We like how it combines Newton’s global investment themes with rigorous fundamental analysis. It’s also been a consistently strong performer since launching in 2015.

The portfolio is also very well diversified and typically holds between 120 and 140 securities, each of which is expected to provide an attractive return and income. Currently, it has 54.5% of assets in equities, 26.1% in bonds and 17.6% in alternatives.

M&G Episode Income

This fund invests directly in individual stocks and bonds – and can have real estate exposure by investing in property funds. It has two aims: to generate a growing level of income over any three-year period and provide capital growth of 2-4%, on average, each year over the same timeframe.

The name ‘episode’ refers to the periods of time when investors’ emotions can cause them to act irrationally and generate investment opportunities. The fund currently has 43.4% of assets in equities, 36.6% in government bonds and 16.3% in corporate bonds. We believe the M&G Episode Income fund is particularly interesting, now that the search for income has resulted in many investors chasing the same ideas.

Jupiter Merlin Income

Another suggestion is actually a multi-manager fund. This means it invests in other funds, as opposed to individual assets. However, this is a way of enjoying even more diversification, and the fact it’s managed by one of the industry’s most respected teams is a positive.

The fund has just under 30% of its assets in fixed income funds, as well as a similar amount in UK equity funds. It then has almost 22% in global equity funds, roughly 9% in Japanese equities, and the remainder split between alternatives – gold and property – and cash. This fund could be a good core holding for income seekers that are looking to have the hard work done on their behalf.

Man jailed for murder of 22-year-old Badri Issa

0

The man who killed 22-year-old Badri Issa as he tried to calm an altercation, has been sentenced to prison.

On October 25, 2023, Badri and his friend were heading to their gym class in a car, when they noticed a white car trying to get their attention.

The driver, Raami Mohamed (pictured) signaled for them to pull over. Both cars stopped on Moss Lane East.

Issa’s friend got out of the car and was confronted by an agitated Mohamed.

Issa tried to de-escalate the situation but was stabbed by Mohamed (22) of Fairy Lane, Salford.

Despite Issa collapsing, the violent assault continued on his friend in broad daylight, with passersby and commuters attempting to intervene.

Mohamed was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years in prison after being found guilty of murder at Manchester Crown Court.

Another man, Kevell Blake, who was found guilty of manslaughter, will be sentenced at a later date.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Naismith of Greater Manchester Police stated that Mr. Issa “paid the ultimate price for trying to de-escalate a situation.”

He added: “The car that Mohamed and Blake were in was soon located by one of our neighbourhood officers in a car park on Arrow Street, Manchester, and was recovered for the forensic examination. During this, blood was detected near the gear stick. The blood was identified as the blood of the victim, Badri Issa.”

Detective chief inspector Andy Naismith said: “Badri Issa was so young when he lost his life in the most tragic way. Having just graduated from university, he was on the cusp of starting a new life, a new career, and reaching new milestones. He paid the ultimate price for trying to de-escalate a situation.

“Since day one, Badri has been at the heart of our investigation, and we have had teams of officers working around the clock to find answers for his family.

“I know that no outcome will ever lessen the pain his family feel, but I hope that today’s sentencing goes some way to giving his loved ones some comfort knowing that his killers are behind bars.”

Depraved man jailed after coercing teenage boys into sexual behaviour

0

A calculated man who pretended to be a girl in order to abuse young boys online, has been jailed for four years.

Ben Thompson (22) from Bolton (pictured) engaged dozens of teenage boys in sexual conversations by pretending to be ‘Erin’ using the alias ‘Erinstewart788’.

Thompson adopted the profile of a young female and would build rapport with victims before demanding sexually explicit images and videos.

After a report of online grooming made to police by parents of an 11-year-old boy in June 2020, an investigation was launched.

Police tracked the fake Erin account to his address and found he had more than 1,000 indecent images he had extorted from children on his mobile.

Thousands of sexualised messages were sent by Thompson to underage boys, in Manchester and across the South West and North East of England.

If they didn’t comply, he would often intimidate them, saying ‘block me and you’ll regret it’ or by threatening to post their pictures online if they didn’t do what he asked.

Thompson pleaded guilty to 28 counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and sexual communications with a child under 13, as well as three charges of possessing indecent images.

He has been sentenced for four years in jail at Bolton Crown Court. He will be on the sex offenders register for life and will be subjected to a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective sergeant Matt Quayle said: “I would like to thank our victims and survivors who showed immense courage by coming forward to police and providing vital evidence to secure Thompson’s conviction.

“Thompson is a calculated and depraved individual who coerced teenage boys into sexual behaviour for his own perverse sexual gratification. When they didn’t comply, he sent them vile threats which we know had a huge impact on the young victims and their mental health.

“We know how uncomfortable it can be to make reports of this nature, but I would urge anyone who has been affected by this case or suspects their child may have been targeted by this social media account, please come forward and report this to us.

“You are not alone, you are not to blame, and we have specially trained officers and partners who will support you.”

Choosing Between the Different Types of Fire Pits

When you think about improving your home or business exterior, you usually think of adding something specific. Most people would go for the party grill or opt for creating a nice seating area, preferably sheltered from the elements, where they can enjoy the warm weather or a heart-to-heart with close friends.

However, among all possible improvements, adding a fire pit to your outdoor space is one sure way to enhance your point for gatherings and provide a warm, welcoming ambience in your backyard. Alas, picking a specific one can be a bit of a ponder, as there are many types available out there, all with their respective features, benefits and installation requirements.

Let’s familiarise you with the main options so you can make up your mind about which one will be right for your individual lifestyle and preferences.

Wood-Burning Fire Pits

It doesn’t get more traditional than that. This type is ideal if you enjoy the crackling sounds of wood and watching the mesmerising flames of a real wood fire. Usually, these fire pits have a bowl or a pit where you place the firewood.

Wood-burning fire pits are the budget option as well. You don’t need to install gas lines or propane tanks to use them. Additionally, they also offer the possibility of cooking over the open flame. Yes, we’re talking about marshmallows, but not only!

Gas Fire Pits

Pretty self-explanatory. As the title already suggests, these fire pits run on natural gas or propane. They produce a clean and smoke-free flame, only with the flick of a switch or the turn of a knob, which makes them really convenient. Moreover, instant ignition means less hassles, like gathering wood or constantly tending the flames.

The models can be either built-in, table-style or freestanding units. Gas fire pits can further be customised if you’re into that sort of thing, with lava rocks, fire glass or ceramic logs, to name a few. Customisation will further enhance its look and enhance the visual appeal of your outdoor space.

Propane Fire Pits

This model is ideal when natural gas lines aren’t an option outside. Propane fire pits are convenient, mainly due to the portability they offer. Moreover, their propane tanks are easily connected or disconnected, which means you can easily move the fire pit around or even take it with you on a camping trip. The convenience cannot be overstated here.

Other clear advantages are the clean-burning and efficient operation, meaning they produce no smoke, ash or embers. Propane fire pits come in various styles and designs, like tabletop models, bowl-style pits and fire tables with built-in seating, just to name a few.

Lastly, these models require little to no maintenance, meaning less hassle all year round. You can enjoy their warmth and the cosy ambience they create pretty much any season.

Fire Pit Tables

This is a multifunctional option for those who want to enjoy their drinks and snacks with the proper ambience that a fire pit creates. It combines essentially the functionality of a fire pit with the practicality of a dining or coffee table.

Fire pit tables are available in various styles and designs too. They can made out of aluminum, steel or concrete, meaning you can easily select the style which compliments your outdoor decor or ambience. Moreover, if you have a smaller yard, you can enjoy their space-saving design.

Lastly, fire pit tables have flexible fuel options. You can power them with natural gas, propane, or ethanol, which means you have more flexibility when selecting their ideal location.

Chimineas

Another portable option. These freestanding fire pits have distinctive chimney designs which date back centuries. Their bulbous bodies, either made from clay or cast iron, have narrow chimney openings at the top. The design, thus, allows for efficient airflow and heat distribution.

Chimineas use wood logs or charcoal as fuel. Moreover, they’re ideal for small outdoor spaces. You can place them on patios, decks, or even balconies, but don’t forget to follow the safety guidelines. Their outer surface can become really hot, so you’ll have to keep that in mind, but other than that, chimineas provide a contained and controlled fire. You won’t have to worry about the risk of sparks and embers, like with how is with traditional open fire pits.

Built-In Fire Pits

These models are permanent fixtures. This means they are integrated into the landscape or hardscape of your outdoor space. Customisation is possible, and you can pick among models that come in plenty of sizes, shapes and design styles.

Built-in fire pits are typically made out of durable materials such as concrete, stone or brick. Their source of fuel is either propane, gas or wood, meaning you have plenty of choices here. These fire pits require minimal maintenance and are also built to last. Meaning, no need to worry about the effects of the elements here. Moreover, you can integrate built-in models easily with patios, decks, pergolas, and even water features, making it easy to enjoy your outdoor space with minimal effort.

Conclusion

Fire pits are one of the best upgrades you can opt for. With them, you can easily make your yard or patio a tad more refined and comfortable, if not even luxurious. Everyone can benefit from a fire pit, as they come in various shapes and sizes, and they do provide comfort and warmth, above all.
