Salford City Council and K2L Marketing Collaborate to Promote Healthy Eating in Local Schools

K2L Marketing, based in Salford, has teamed up with Salford City Council to launch a far-reaching campaign promoting the advantages of healthy school meals and educating families on the importance of nutrition in children’s growth and development.

The Food for CHAMPiONS campaign, run by Citywide Services—part of the council—focuses on supplying nutritious meals to primary and secondary pupils. The initiative highlights the critical role balanced diets play in physical health, learning ability, and mental wellbeing.

At its heart, the campaign aims to inform children and their families about how healthy food choices enhance concentration and energy, while also encouraging more families to utilise school meal services—whether subsidised or paid—as a healthy, practical solution.

Councillor Barbara Bentham, Lead Member for Neighbourhoods, Environment and Community Safety at Salford City Council, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of the Food for CHAMPiONS campaign and the positive impact it will have across our city.

“Nutritious school meals are vital not just for children’s physical health but also for their concentration, learning, and overall wellbeing. This campaign is a brilliant example of how we can work together with local partners like K2L to promote healthy habits from a young age and support families in making informed choices. It’s all about giving every child in Salford the chance to flourish – both inside and outside the classroom.”

K2L has supported the campaign by designing an engaging suite of materials tailored to resonate with children and parents alike. These include colourful worksheets, educational posters, and interactive sticker books for schools, in addition to a digital campaign aimed at spreading the message across Salford’s communities.

Scott Kennedy, Managing Director of K2L Marketing, said:

“Working alongside Salford City Council on this important initiative has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The Food for CHAMPiONS campaign is all about building healthier communities and giving children the essential tools they need to thrive.”

The campaign will be rolled out across schools and neighbourhoods in Salford in the coming months, reinforcing its message of health, nutrition, and positive habits citywide.
