Royal seal of approval for Manchester engineering company

Manchester-based company High Voltage Partial Discharge (HVPD) are celebrating after winning their THIRD Queen’s Award, for their achievements in International Trade.

HVPD, who provide partial discharge asset monitoring solutions to some of the world’s biggest Oil & Gas, Mining and Energy companies, have added this year’s award to the two they won in 2014 (Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade, and Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation).

The award, specifically for International Trade, comes after HVPD announced that export sales now make up 92% of the company’s total revenue.

HVPD’s Commercial Director Rachel Oates said: “I am incredibly proud to be part of the leadership team at a company with such consistently-high export numbers, especially given that we are based in Manchester, UK. HVPD is flying the flag for SMEs who supply to a global blue chip customer base. Our staff and customers make all this possible year-on-year and we would like to thank them all for their hard work, dedication, innovation, quality and support.”

Business Development Director Marc Foxall said: “It’s a great honour. HVPD have had a fantastic few years. Over the last five years, our exports have increased by over 230%.”

At the forefront of a relatively-young field, HVPD are constantly leading the research that goes into the advancement of Partial Discharge monitoring solutions.

Technical Director Malcolm Seltzer-Grant said: “We have done quite a lot of Research & Development work over the last year, including launching new products and expanding the application range of existing products. It’s really nice to see this expansion of our product portfolio and the expansion of the number of users worldwide.”

HVPD continually strive to improve Partial Discharge knowledge within their markets. To that end, they regularly conduct technical seminars, publish invaluable technical papers, and even offer CPD-accredited training courses for electrical engineers all around the world.

HR Manager Kelly Thorley added: “Being a growing company, it’s always good to be able to show that everyone has an input into winning this award, and making it an achievable target. Everyone can say they had an input into HVPD winning the prestigious Queens Award for International Trade.”

Business Secretary Greg Clark said: “These prestigious awards help shine a light on all that is great about UK business today. I am extremely impressed to see such a wealth of talent and innovation from across the UK being recognised today by Her Majesty The Queen.

“These awards recognise the innovative products and services being provided by British businesses that are in demand across the world, as well as the sheer determination and hard work that comes with starting and running a business. Many of these winners are small businesses – the backbone of our economy – and we are backing them to grow, increase their productivity and create more jobs and opportunity across the UK through our modern Industrial Strategy.”
