B-B-L Protect, based in Manchester, has unveiled an innovative Personal Isolation Pod, a breakthrough in the safe transportation of contagious patients. Specialising in isolation pods for various applications including aviation, hospital wards, and road ambulances, B-B-L Protect ensures effective disease containment and crew protection. Following positive responses at the Emergency Services Show and HeliTech Expo London, the company has named Sentinel Ambulance Service and its Aeromed division as the official UK sales agents for their AeroPod 15 road ambulance isolators and AeroPod 10 aviation evacuation isolators.
The AeroPod range by B-B-L Protect sets a new benchmark for user-friendliness and reduced operational costs, distinguishing itself from traditional hard case isolation pods. Each AeroPod, weighing less than 15kg, is flexibly designed to accommodate loading in any road or air ambulance vehicle.
The AeroPod’s standout feature is its patient placement facility. It incorporates a full-length zipper and a patented snap-open hinge system, enabling the isolator to lay flat on the ambulance stretcher, thereby simplifying patient placement and securing.
Russell Clifton, the Managing Director of B-B-L Protect, emphasises that using an AeroPod for patient loading takes no longer than a few extra minutes compared to a standard stretcher.
Once a patient is secured inside the AeroPod using the built-in four-point harness, the unit is zipped shut. It then creates a HEPA filtered negative pressure airflow, effectively isolating the patient and protecting the ambulance crew and vehicle from contagion risks.
Sentinel Aeromed, part of the Sentinel Ambulance Service based in Eccles, Manchester, and established by British forces veteran Paul Lawrenson, is the newly appointed sales agent.
