North West fitness entrepreneurs announce £0.5 million gym expansion

Two of the region’s leading fitness entrepreneurs have announced the expansion of their Pro-Fit gym concept just 12 months after launch.

Their second dedicated facility will open in Middlebrook, Bolton at the end of October following a £500,000 investment.

Originally founded as Easyfit in 2002, Graham Webb and Steve Butters have been at the forefront of the fitness industry in the North West for the past 20 years managing personal training services in gyms across the region including Energie Fitness Club in Wilmslow, The Bolton Arena, Gym Etc, and Total Fitness Health Club.

The business, now called Pro-Fit, is one of the biggest networks of personal trainers in the UK, leading some of the top trainers in the country.

Last September, Webb and Butters announced the launch of Pro-Fit’s first dedicated gym facility – a state-of-the-art personal training gym in Preston.

After growing the membership base to more than 250 in just 12 months, the pair has announced plans to open the doors to a second half a million pound, 10,000sqft training space in Greater Manchester later this month.

Graham said: “After working in the industry for 20+ years we always knew that when the time was right to open our own gym we would be able to create something truly unique for members that we felt was currently missing in the North West.

“Pro-Fit gyms are built around community and comradery. Our members are like family – we’ve created a supportive and inclusive environment where people train together at all levels. There are no egos and no intimidation.

“After a phenomenal first 12 months in Preston, our second gym will be opening its doors in Middlebrook, Bolton on October 23 as the next stage in our expansion programme. We’ve invested £500,000 into creating a state-of-the-art training facility that doesn’t currently exist in the local area. We will be launching with around 50 founder members and have ambitious plans to grow the membership base.

“The cost of living crisis is undoubtedly having an impact on the fitness industry. But this is where gyms like ours are really coming into their own. People are looking for more than a soulless identikit gym chain. They want a sense of community; to build friendships and to feel part of something. Our PTs know every single one of our members by name and genuinely care about what is going on in their lives. It is these relationships that help set us apart and deliver some amazing results for our members.”
