Walk for Women Returns in Manchester in 2023

Manchester’s Walk for Women is returning to the city centre on Saturday 4th March to commemorate International Women’s Day 2023.

Hundreds of women and supporters of women from all over will be able to demonstrate their support for International Women’s Day as they proudly walk through the city centre.
Participants are invited to come together with their community and raise their voices in solidarity with women accross the world. As well as joining in the chants, those in attendance are encouraged to bring along fun, safe and noisy instruments, to bang and clang.

The walk will begin outside Manchester Cathedral on Victoria Street, meeting at 12noon for a 12:30pm start. It will go through the city centre, ending up outside Central Library in St Peters Square. Large groups, businesses and organisations are encouraged to get involved and register for an official place in the Walk for Women.

The length of the walk is approximately 1.11km, with rest stops along the way and dropped kerbs for wheelchair access.

In previous years, the city has seen thousands of women and supporters of women flood to Manchester city centre to share their passion for equality.

This event is part of Manchester’s International Women’s Day celebrations which will take place across the city in March. International Women’s Day itself falls on Wednesday 8 March. It’s a global campaign and this year’s theme, ‘Embrace Equity’ focusses on how people can create an inclusive world.

“International Women’s Day is an important date, marking the achievements of women throughout history. It also provides us with a unique opportunity to celebrate the brave women who have fought for us and who continue fighting against inequality.
