Formula 1: Ferrari technical director Cardile to join Aston Martin

Ferrari’s chassis technical director Enrico Cardile is leaving his current role in Formula 1 to join Aston Martin.

The Prancing Horses announced on social media that said: “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Enrico Cardile is leaving the company, therefore relinquishing his role as Technical Director Chassis Area.

“After almost two decades with Ferrari, Cardile has handed in his notice and therefore, with immediate effect, and as an interim measure, the Chassis Area will be overseen by the Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur.

“Everyone at Scuderia Ferrari HP thanks Enrico for all his hard work over so many years.”

Last week, the BBC reported that Cardile has signed for Aston Martin, as they continue to overhaul their development team.

The British-based team are looking to cement themselves as a front runner on the grid and Cardile’s appointment comes alongside the signing of Mercedes’ Andy Cowell as chief executive officer.

It has been a tough run of races for Ferrari, who started the season as Red Bull’s closest competitor.

But since Charles Leclerc’s win in Monaco, they have gone backwards, most recently removing an upgrade at the British Grand Prix.

It is not all bad news though, as Lewis Hamilton is still set to join as a driver in 2025, having won at his home race and ended a 946-day wait to stand on the top step.
