Haydock business leads the way in global security best practice

ATG Access, the world’s leading innovator of road blockers, bollards and vehicle barrier systems, hosted its annual International Distributor Conference to offer security and counter terrorism best practice to protect cities around the world.

The event welcomed representatives from 16 countries, including China, Qatar, Japan, USA and Germany, who were keen to learn more from the British manufacturer about how the latest developments in security systems could aid their country’s defence strategies.

The International Distributor Conference, held over two days at Manchester United’s home ground, Old Trafford, provided engineering, sales and technical support and training to global representatives.

It also provided an opportunity for ATG Access to reveal its latest product developments, including the innovative Surface Guard road block system, which was specifically designed in response to the surge of recent vehicle attacks that have taken place across Europe. It is capable of withstanding an attack from a 7,200kg lorry travelling at 32 kph, and its lightweight modular design makes it quick to install, transport and easy to store.

ATG Access manufactures and supplies its bollard, barriers and temporary event security products across 42 global locations, including the UAE, Singapore, India and America. Its international projects have included deploying bollards at Doha International Aiport in Qatar, and on Singapore’s elite shopping street, Orchard Road, to help protect visitors from vehicle borne threats.

Exporting sales now account for half of ATG Access’ annual turnover – totalling £8m for the last financial year. This success is partly attributed to its strategy of developing strong relationships with partners in each country by providing local customer service and support in each export market.

Opening the event was Conor McGinn, MP for St Helen’s. He said: “ATG Access is at the forefront of innovation. A world leader, the company now operates on a global stage.

“In the wake of Brexit, companies such as ATG Access that are fleet of foot will be integral to the UK’s economy. Regardless of the final trading deal, the company’s engineering excellence is sure to continue as a hallmark for quality British manufacturing, renowned the world over. I am delighted the business is based in my constituency.”

Gavin Hepburn, director at ATG Access, said: “The exporting arm of our business has become integral to what we do here at ATG Access, with security now a key priority globally.

“A huge factor in our success abroad has been building relationships with regional partners to ensure strong customer relationships. Without this we would not have been able to achieve the same level of growth that we’ve experienced over the last 10 years.

“Therefore, it was an honour to host representatives from 16 of our partner countries at our International Distributor Conference. The annual event not only provides a fantastic opportunity for training and development, but also for further strengthening our growing global network.”
