Developers invited to help unlock North West development

The North West’s regeneration potential is to be placed under the spotlight when local authorities, developers, and funders come together at a landmark regeneration forum for the region.
Hosted by procurement specialist Pagabo, the event will take place on Wednesday, April 2, at The Midland Hotel in Manchester city centre.
It aims to connect forward-thinking funders and developers with key regional opportunities, as well as providing the space for new partnerships to be forged – and the day will examine the role of collaboration between the public and private sector for unlocking crucial investment for key projects.
Jonathan Parker (pictured), development director at Pagabo said: “The North West is the home of so many global leaders – from universities and research centres, to music and cultural arts institutions, and sporting teams and facilities. A glance at the skylines of city centres highlights the amount of work already being done, but development needs to extend across the full region to unlock the full potential that lies there.
“The opportunity to grasp that potential by the horns is further enhanced with Greater Manchester Combined Authority being one of the first to receive an integrated settlement from 2025-26, which will give the mayor ‘meaningful control over funding’.
“With Liverpool City Region also eligible for an integrated settlement from 2026-27, this is devolution in action, providing the local flexibility and control needed to properly deliver what every area needs on a localised level to unlock economic and social transformation.
“This all being said, no single party can bring forward development by themselves and projects should not be looked at in silo. Taking a full town and city-wide approach to regeneration will ensure that the delivery of new homes and facilities – along with the vital supporting infrastructure – deliver the absolute maximum for local economies and communities.
“That’s why we’re bringing the public and private sector parties together that can collaboratively deliver on that potential – seeking to continue the positive transformation across the North West.”
The day will see a series of panel talks from local authority representatives, developers, and funders examining the potential that lies ahead for the region. Speakers will also showcase success stories already being delivered, such as Liverpool’s 10.5 hectare Central Docks scheme, which will become the largest of five planned neighbourhoods within the wider Liverpool Waters district.
Attendees have already been confirmed from authorities including Manchester City Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Blackpool Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Salford City Council.
