Charity football match returns to commemorate Manchester Arena attack victims

Manchester Remembers, the charity football match set up in the wake of the Manchester Arena attacks, has announced its return with a very special game.

The match of celebrities v legends will take place at Boundary Park – the home of Oldham Athletic FC – on Sunday, July 28.

It will mark the seventh anniversary of the attack, raising money for six different charities founded in the aftermath of the bombing as well as supporting ‘A Friend of the Foundation’, with further details to be announced soon.

A host of famous faces and sports stars are set to return such as Jason Manford, Danny Simpson, Wes Brown and Ricky Hatton. New stars include Noah Olaoye and Harry Cain with more being announced over the coming weeks.

Since launching in 2022 the campaign has raised £117,676 for five special charities set up to create a legacy for those who sadly lost their lives.

These include The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust, Liv’s Trust, The Megan Hurley Foundation, Eilidh’s Trust and The Remembering Nell Foundation.

The event has been organised by former police officer Aaron Lee and local business owner Paul Corrigan. Aaron was one of the first responders on the scene at the Manchester Arena almost seven years ago and has built a strong relationship with the victims’ families.

Aaron Lee said: “We are delighted to see the continued support for Manchester Remembers. It means so much to everyone affected by the Manchester Arena attack in 2017, and provides a fitting annual tribute to ensure those people are never forgotten. We’re truly grateful for all of the support and to those who have helped us raise an incredible amount of money for charity. We are looking forward to this Summer and continuing to grow the fundraising target.”

Tickets are now on sale. General admission tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for U16’s and hospitality packages start from £65 for adults and £45 for U16’s. They can be purchased here. Hospitality boxes also start from £1,350 for 10 people.

Marc Darcy Menswear are returning as kit sponsor and ME comms are acting as PR partner. Sponsorship opportunities are also now available and can be found here.
