Cheshire firm recognised for WellChild support

Ultra Decking has been recognised for its long-standing support of children’s charity WellChild, having helped transform gardens for more than 1,000 seriously ill children.

Since the partnership began, the Cheshire company has supported more than 50 projects through WellChild’s Helping Hands programme, donating over 1,500 decking boards and improving outdoor spaces for over 1,000 children and their families.

Helping Hands brings teams of volunteers together with families caring for seriously ill children, adapting homes and gardens to create safe, accessible spaces where children can play, relax and spend time outdoors.

Ultra Decking’s composite decking has played a key role in many of those projects. The boards are durable and low-maintenance, and they create the smooth, level surfaces that matter in gardens used by wheelchair users and children with mobility challenges..

Kieran Cullen, Helping Hands Programme Manager at WellChild, said: “Ultra Decking’s support over the past few years has been invaluable. Without their generosity, many of the life-changing garden transformations we deliver through Helping Hands would have become prohibitively expensive.

“Their composite decking is ideal for the families we support, creating safe and accessible outdoor spaces where children who rely on wheelchairs can enjoy their gardens like never before. This partnership is a fantastic example of the real impact a company can make.”

Allan Jeffrey, CEO and managing director at Ultra Decking, said: “WellChild’s ‘Helping Hands’ projects align perfectly with our own expertise. Many of the families they support are unable to use their gardens due to accessibility issues or the high maintenance required.

“By supporting WellChild, we are helping to create low-maintenance, splinter-free, and wheelchair-friendly sanctuaries that allow children with complex medical needs to play and thrive safely at home. We believe every child deserves a garden that is a place of joy rather than a barrier, and we are proud to contribute to a charity that makes that possible.”
