Man dead following road collision in Oldham

Witnesses who saw or have footage of a road traffic collision in Oldham, could help police with their investigation.

At 11.41pm on Sunday, three cars were involved in an incident on Greenacres Road.

Police believed that a car overturned after colliding with two stationary cars. Despite best efforts of emergency services, a man in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, also in their twenties, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Detective constable Alex Giblin said: “This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life, and our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones. They will be supported by specially trained officers at this distressing time.

“We are working tirelessly to get answers for them, but I urge anyone who has any information, or who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward and help with our enquiries.

“This could be an eyewitness account from the scene, doorbell footage, CCTV or dashcam footage. It can all be used to help us establish how a young man lost his life in such distressing circumstances.

“Anyone with information or detail is encouraged to contact us directly on 0161 856 4741 or 101 quoting incident 3606 of 02/06/24. Alternatively, if you would prefer to remain anonymous, details can be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
