Man found guilty of murder in Bury

A 39-year-old has been found guilty of murdering a Bury man whose body was found inside a duvet cover at the bottom of the stairs at his home address.

Ian Connell (39) of no fixed abode was initially arrested by police in August on suspicion of burglary, after the alarm was raised by a postman, who had seen him accessing the rear of a property on Ainsworth Road in Radcliffe.

A subsequent police search of the property found the body of Donald ‘Prentice’ Patience, 45.

Connell was found guilty of Mr Patience’s murder yesterday at Manchester Crown Court and will be sentenced on Wednesday.
