Edin secured his first victory in the Grand Slam of Curling tournament, defeating Team John Shuster of the United States with a score of 9-4 during the fifth round-robin draw held on Wednesday morning at the Gale Centre. John Shuster, who had previously bested Edin in the gold medal game at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, also maintains a 1-1 record in the competition.

Notably, Team Edin had clinched the HearingLife Tour Challenge title in the previous season in Grande Prairie, Alberta, even without their skip, Niklas Edin. Edin had sustained a knee injury during warmups for the semifinals, and the reins were expertly taken over by third Oskar Eriksson from that point onwards.

Kicking off the 2023-24 Grand Slam of Curling season, the world’s top curlers are taking the ice in Niagara Falls for the first time for the HearingLife Tour Challenge from October 17-22. Sportsnet is set to deliver exclusive TV and streaming coverage of the international premier curling event beginning Thursday, October 19 on Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE, Sportsnet 360, and via live stream on Curling TV anywhere

  • Princess Auto Players’ Championship – Toronto, ON (April 9-14, 2024, at Mattamy Athletic Centre)

2023 Hearinglife Tour Challenge Preview

The knowledgeable curling commentators from Sportsnet will provide viewers with special insight and commentary from the Gale Centre as they transport viewers into the thick of the action there. Rob Faulds, a veteran play-by-play announcer, will be making his return to the broadcast booth alongside Kevin Martin, Mike Harris, and Joan McCusker, all of whom are legendary Canadian Olympic medallists and curling commentators. Jennifer Jones, who won the gold medal at the Olympics, will make her broadcasting comeback for select games and games throughout the season. Robbie Doherty makes his debut as a broadcaster with interviews with exclusive players and other content.

The Grand Slam of Curling is an elite series of curling competitions that has been owned and run by Sportsnet since 2012. These events feature the greatest men’s and women’s teams from throughout Canada and around the world, and each season there is $2.1 million in total prize money up for grabs. Since 2015, Sportsnet and the Grand Slam of Curling have been offering equal purses to both the men’s and women’s teams competing in the tournament.
