THIRTY30 and the University of Salford join forces to offer Undergraduates paid industry experience

The city-centre media agency has implemented a two-week rolling internship programme aimed at preparing students for life in the industry

Having real-world work experience on your CV is often a requirement when applying for graduate jobs, but securing such placements alongside university can be challenging.

That’s why creative agency THIRTY30 has teamed up with the University of Salford to offer students the chance to join the team for two weeks and be paid for their time.

While the agency offers a range of services including design, video content and website building, the internship programme will focus predominantly on PR and social media management. Interns will have the chance to try their hand at a range of tasks across these areas, including contributing to campaign planning meetings and writing a range of copy across for both b2b and b2c audiences.

David Jones, Managing Director of THIRTY30, commented: “The programme is designed to give students a chance to test out the skills they learn in their degree in the workplace. Interns will be given meaningful tasks and there will be a great deal of variety in their schedules, there’s nothing worse than feeling like a spare part.”

“It doesn’t seem fair not to reward hard work, which is why we’ll be paying the students for their time.”

The partnership comes as THIRTY30’s PR and Content Manager Polly Riggs is herself a Salford graduate, having finished her Journalism and English degree in the summer of 2018.

The University of Salford’s media department is increasingly receiving national acclaim, not least because of the campuses location in the heart of the city’s thriving MediaCityUK.

Journalism and PR Lecturer Sara Eyre said: “This is a great opportunity for our students who are considering a career in PR or social media.

“We’ve found our graduates always do better if they have had some work experience in their chosen industry, so the partnership with THIRTY30 will put students in a great position to apply for jobs when they finish their time at university.”
