Eurostar Commodities strengthens food safety credentials with BRCGS AA success

New accreditation recognises manufacturing standards across Yorkshire supplier’s Brighouse, gluten-free and rice facilities

Food ingredients supplier Eurostar Commodities has achieved the highest grade available under the BRCGS Global Standard Food Safety announced audit programme, marking a further step in the company’s development and investment in its manufacturing operations.

The Yorkshire-based business, which serves food manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and foodservice operators in the UK and overseas, has secured an AA rating covering all its manufacturing facilities. This includes its recently invested-in gluten-free production and rice manufacturing and packing operations.

The latest award builds on Eurostar’s existing BRCGS Storage & Distribution AA certification, extending its recognised food safety credentials across its manufacturing activities.

BRCGS is one of the leading international standards used by food businesses to assess suppliers and manufacturers. Its certification framework examines key requirements relating to food safety, product quality, legality and integrity.

Under the announced audit programme, an AA grade is the highest possible result. The assessment involves an independent examination of food safety management systems, operational procedures, product controls, traceability arrangements, hygiene standards and safeguards for customers and consumers.

Businesses achieving this rating must have no critical or major non-conformities and can have no more than five minor issues identified during the audit.

For customers, the result provides independent evidence that Eurostar’s audited manufacturing operations meet internationally recognised food safety requirements. It also supports confidence in the company’s approach to ingredient quality and the management of its supply chain.

Jason Bull, Managing Director of Eurostar Commodities, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the BRCGS Food Safety AA grade. This is a major achievement for Eurostar Commodities and a reflection of the exceptional standards and dedication of our entire team. Food safety and quality are fundamental to our business. Our customers, from major food manufacturers and retailers to independent bakeries, wholesalers and foodservice operators, depend on us to deliver ingredients that meet the highest standards of safety, consistency and reliability.

“This is not simply about passing an audit. It is about embedding a culture of food safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout the business. We are particularly proud of our team, whose hard work and attention to detail have made this achievement possible. As we continue to grow, innovate and develop new products, maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer confidence will always be at the heart of everything we do.”

Eurostar Commodities was established in 1994 and has since grown into a leading specialist ingredient supplier. Its portfolio spans rice, pizza flours, gluten-free products and flour produced from British regeneratively farmed wheat.

The company has continued to develop its product offering while investing in its UK facilities and technical capabilities. Its customers operate across food manufacturing, baking, wholesale, retail and hospitality.

Products include Kintaro sushi rice, GMI Italian pizza flours, award-winning gluten-free chapati flours and RISE Re, an innovative flour range produced using 100% British regeneratively farmed wheat.

The BRCGS Food Safety AA accreditation applies to the company’s manufacturing operations at Brighouse, alongside its recently invested-in facilities. These include dedicated gluten-free manufacturing and rice production and packing.

The award comes as food businesses face increasing demands to demonstrate high standards in quality, traceability, food security and responsible sourcing. Independent certification provides an important way for suppliers to demonstrate that their systems and processes meet recognised industry requirements.

Eurostar Commodities believes the achievement reinforces its role as a trusted partner to the UK food industry while supporting its continued expansion and development of new products.
