East Grinstead welcomed some of the world’s foremost eye care specialists as Centre for Sight celebrated 30 years of delivering advanced vision treatment. Experts from across the ophthalmology sector travelled to Sussex for a landmark event focused on the future of eye health and patient care.
Founded in 1996 by consultant ophthalmic surgeon Sheraz M. Daya, the internationally renowned eye hospital hosted a specialist conference that brought together leading surgeons, clinicians, innovators and business leaders to discuss the next generation of sight-saving and vision-correcting treatments.
The one-day conference, titled “30 Years of Vision: Crafting the Next Decade”, was held at Alexander House Hotel in West Sussex over the weekend. Discussions focused on the evolution of eye care over the last 30 years and emerging developments including artificial intelligence, laser-based treatments, advanced diagnostics and new approaches to healthcare delivery.
For three decades, Centre for Sight has been recognised as a leader in refractive and cataract surgery, earning an international reputation for innovation, specialist treatment and patient-focused care.
The anniversary gathering attracted world-class expertise to Sussex, further strengthening East Grinstead’s reputation as a hub for advanced eye care. The celebrations concluded with a black-tie dinner featuring a speech from Katie Piper, the broadcaster, author and founder of the Katie Piper Foundation, who received treatment at Centre for Sight following life-changing injuries.
The speaker programme featured many respected figures in ophthalmology and medical innovation, including Arthur Cummings, Erik Mertens, Amanda Carones, Francesco Carones, Michael Mrochen, Milind Pande, Pei Fen Lin, Aylin Kiliç, Andrea Russo, Andrew Webb, Saj Khan and Sheraz Daya.
Sessions explored the future of cataract and refractive surgery, the growing role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, changing patient expectations, innovation within private healthcare and the technologies expected to influence vision care in the years ahead.
Sheraz M. Daya, Founder and Medical Director of Centre for Sight, said:
“Over the past 30 years ophthalmology has seen remarkable transformation driven by technology, research and the dedication of clinicians committed to improving vision and quality of life. This conference is an opportunity to reflect on that journey, share insights with colleagues and look ahead to the innovations that will define the next decade of patient care. East Grinstead has become an important centre for advanced eye care. We are proud to bring world class expertise to Sussex and to continue helping patients access the latest developments in vision treatment.”
