Advance train tickets now available on TransPennine Express machines

Advance train tickets are now available for customers to buy using TransPennine Express (TPE) ticket machines.
Advance train tickets are single, one-way tickets purchased in advance for a specific train service and date. They typically offer customers the lowest prices.

They will now be available for purchase on TPE ticket vending machines (TVMs) up until 10 minutes before services depart.

Advance tickets had only previously been available online or on the TPE app, ticket offices and online retailers such as Trainline.

Darren Higgins, commercial director, said: “We are committed to making our network accessible and easier to use.”

We are always looking to find ways to offer better value for our customers and make buying tickets more straightforward – and we think this upgrade to our TVMs will do this.”

TPE rolled out more than new 40 TVMs in 2023 and the move is a further upgrade.

The large state-of-the-art touch screens provide clear and more simple navigation thanks to the double screen.

The TVMs can also be set to a ‘lower screen’ option to make the ticket purchasing and collection process more accessible for wheelchair users.
