Manchester United midfielder Casemiro will miss “several weeks” due to the hamstring injury sustained against Newcastle in the EFL Cup.
The Brazil international was taken off at half-time in the 3-0 defeat on Wednesday night after an underwhelming showing before the break.
Casemiro also missed Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City in the Premier League through injury and is now set for a longer spell on the sidelines.
A United statement read: “Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
“The Brazilian midfielder was withdrawn at half-time due to the issue, and subsequent assessment has revealed a strain that will keep him out for a number of weeks.”
