There were major delays on the M6 motorway on Saturday night after a crash involving four cars. All lanes were shut on the motorway following the incident at around 8.30pm.
The motorway was shut off on the northbound carriageway between junction 21 for Warrington and junction 21A. There were over two miles of delays, travel services have said.
National Highways for the North West posted at the time: “Traffic has been held on the #M6 in #Cheshire northbound between J21 #Warrington – J21A (#M62) due to a collision. Emergency services are on scene and recovery arranged. Delays in excess of 30 minutes with 2 miles of congestion.”
Travel service Inrix said four cars were involved in the incident. At 10pm, three lanes reopened but the slip road exit was shut off, with delays still in place.
National Highways said the delays would ease.
